Album:
New dragon lords needs the land. So many want it, but only the few are destined for it. As a proverbial kite-killer, it is not easy to get into the genre of Power Metal. It is also known to be a bit more cheesy here, so an EP title like HERE BE DRAGONLORDS certainly does not come by chance. But the GRIMGOTTS, founded only in 2015, have already shown more fantasy than most others: as a modification of the Gringotts magic grid from the HARRY POTTER universe, he is very interested. It remains to be seen whether the combo, which currently consists of only three members, is still musically still in a bearable frame and, in the best case, still provides a fresh wind, can be explored using the first four published titles. The SHORES OF VALE is a short instrumental intro. Already here is something that will also be drawn by the other three titles: GRIMGOTTS mix in their Symphonic Power Metal explicitly exhilarating, but also epic appearing elements. If you also listen to the lead vocals of Andy Barton in the opener FIGHT AGAINST THE WORLD, the Italian colleagues from VEXILLUM will immediately be present. They are similar to each other - only that the GRIMGOTTS show a much more symphonic and perhaps even more powerful sound. And this can be heard all the time, even if there would have been a little bit more about the overall production quality. With the necessary support this should not be a problem - GRIMGOTTS have the feeling for successful compositions in any case. And also for telling cheeky fantasy stories not too clumsily and not to overload the individual titles despite the lushly used keyboard. Just the CELESTY's VENDETTA chore elements in the background fit perfectly into the sound scenes and make you want more. If the band now has a complete and firm cast, discreetly to the Leadgesang and tries as far as possible from comparison bands like VEXILLUM - then a glorious genre future should stand in the way of nothing.
