Album:

What a shame when bands as Canadians BOULEVARD made such great music in such a short span of time and released some great material only to be drowned in the grunge driven domination in the early 90s. Such was the case here with “Into The Streets”, without a doubt a timeless classic in the Melodic Rock / AOR genre. The boys from Canada started back in the mid 80’s and founded by Mark Holden and David Forbes. They went on to release the their self title debut Blvd which offered your prototypical AOR keyboard and pomp gyrations. The second one ”Into The Street” augmented the melodies and harmonies, melodic AOR on the highest possible level. For many years the CD or LP resulted very hard to find.Bad Reputation specialists have reissued this little gem “Into The Street [Bad Reputation remaster + Bonus]” including 4 worthwhile extras. An essential record in your collection, here with a sharp remastered sound.Recorded in Vancouver, on “Into The Street” Boulevard really sounded ‘as a band’. The songwriting is stronger, the instrumentation more natural and the overall feeling absolutely organic.Originally appeared in 1990, this is, simply put, one of the best AOR – Melodic Rock albums of all time. You have all the genre’s key ingredients here; heavenly melodies, catchy-perfect choruses, delicate keyboards, clean sharp guitars and smooth lead vocals / multi-part harmonies. All songs on “Into The Street” soar, all are fantastic. But I have to mention ‘Talk To Me’. This tune changed my life in many ways, at least musically. Oh yes, this is one of the best songs in AOR / Melodic Rock history.Boulevard is considered as one of the most important arena rock bands in the history of Canadian music. This remastered reissue of “Into The Street” sounds fantastic adding more crisp to the original and a better output balance, bringing back an absolute ’80s AOR classic filled with prime Melodic Rock straight from the Canadian soil.None collection is complete with this album missing. If Boulevard’s first album is a terrific, mandatory piece into your AOR collection, then “Into The Street” is A MUST HAVE.

Album:

Talk Without Speaking - the newest Boulevard album drops May 1st.The Canadian AOR rock band Boulevard did the majority of its work in the 1980s using the abbreviated name, Blvd. Members of the group were lead singer David Forbes, bassist Randy Burgess, guitarist Randy Gould, saxophonist Mark Holden, keyboardist Andrew Johns, and drummer Randall Stoll. Burgess stepped out of the lineup after a while and was replaced by bassist Tom Christianson. Between 1988 and 1990, the band released half a dozen singles and a pair of well-received albums, before officially calling it a day in 1991.Formed in Calgary in 1983 by , , and Forbes, the other members followed over time. Two years after its birth, Blvd had completed a few demos and gained the attention of MCA Records, but it would take two more years before the group landed a contract with the label. In 1988, Blvd released a debut single, "In the Twilight." In between a tour schedule that had the band opening for a number of big groups like Glass Tiger and Boston, Blvd finished a few other singles that year and topped it off with a self-titled debut album that carried ten tracks, including "Dream On," "When the Lights Go Down," and "Far From Over." In 1990, Blvd put together a few new songs and went to work on a second full-length effort, In the Streets. The sophomore album was released under the band's full name, Boulevard. The group did a couple more singles, but success stayed just out of reach. By this time, Burgess was already gone and a short spell later, decided to leave as well, and by 1991 the band had ceased operations. In late 2015, after a 25 year hiatus, the group released the concert DVD Live from Gastown, which was filmed earlier that February at Vancouver’s Warehouse studio. Two years later, with a lineup consisting of David Forbes (vocals), Dave Corman (guitar), Andrew Johns (keyboards, vocals), Mark Holden (sax), Cory Curtis (bass), and Randall Stoll (drums), the band returned with their long awaited third studio album, Luminescence, which was recorded at Abbey Road Studios in London, England, and released via . ~ Charlotte Dillon, Rovi
