Gabrielle de Val started to get involved in the rock scene when she created the band Yin-Yang (1987), which would later be called D'Val, together with several musicians who suggested to her to take part in the 'Villa de Madrid' contest, the most relevant of the Spanish music scene for decades. To the band's surprise, they ranked second in the final, achieving great media coverage, as well as financial aid that they invested in upgrading their equipment and the recording of a vinyl single, which would be distributed nationally.Gabrielle composed, wrote lyrics, sang, did interviews...and that's how she turned music into her life. The band recorded several demos that today are part of the treasure trove for the nostalgic Spanish rock lovers. After that, the band remained inactive for almost 20 years! Until in 2010 Alfonso Samos, David Erick, Alex Morell and Gabrielle reappeared - to everyone's surprise - under the name of The Val and recorded, at last, their debut album "Back". And as Gabrielle says: “Good things sometimes come to those who wait...a long wait!” But the world had changed and borders had disappeared for music thanks to social networks and the countless possibilities they offered to go one step further; and that's how an album that had been conceived to close a stage of the past became the key to open a new and fascinating future. The album was widely distributed and supported by important media such as Classic Rock and Fireworks, which made possible the recording of a second album, "Heading For The Surface" (2015) and a third one, "King Ocelot" (2020), all of them with extraordinary reviews from the specialized media. With The Val, Gabrielle gave major concerts, participated in festivals, toured England and had the opportunity to sing live alongside big names in international rock such as David Saylor and Robert Tepper (Rockingham Fest, 2015) as well as with Spanish artists, such as Rafa Martín, José Carlos Molina and Miguel Oñate.

We are pleased to announce that Gabrielle's second album will be released on Pride & Joy on the 27th of June and will be called 'I Am The Hammer' Consisting of fourteen Melodic Rock masterpieces, Gaby, who partnered up with Swedish guitarist, songwriter and record producer Tommy Denander, has followed up 'Kiss In A Dragon Night' with a hard-hitting album that will delight new and old fans alike!For those of you wondering about Gabrielle's original second album, 'Cry Wolf', it is still coming as Gaby explains here, 'While we’re waiting for the production of ‘Cry Wolf’ to be completed, Tommy Denander, Bruce Mee and I threw ourselves into a musical adventure we’ve absolutely fallen in love with – and couldn’t be prouder of. That’s how ‘I Am The Hammer’ was born – an album that will be released on 27 June 2025 through the German label Pride and Joy Music. It will be available on all major digital platforms and also as a physical CD distributed worldwide. This album is incredibly close to my heart for many reasons. It includes 14 songs covering a wide range of themes – all of them deeply emotional. There are moments of strength, darkness, vulnerability and hope… each song has its own story and energy. The lyrics were written by Bruce Mee, editor of the British Rock magazine ‘Fireworks Rock & Metal’, with whom I instantly clicked. I composed the melodies for most of the tracks, and the arrangements, production, and much of the musical magic were in the hands of the brilliant Tommy Denander. If you’re not already familiar with Tommy (although I bet all of you are), he’s worked with absolute legends like Toto, Alice Cooper, Paul Stanley, Michael Jackson … and the list goes on! He also wrote one of the tracks on the album, ‘Show Me Heaven’, and I seriously can’t wait for you to hear it. Working with Bruce and Tommy has been an absolute joy – we’ve found such an easy, natural flow. The three of us are completely in tune, on the same musical wavelength, and that connection has made the whole creative process something truly special. We've become a real dream team! To top it off, the album also features a song co-written by Roland Forsman, Swedish guitarist and producer from the band Remedy. His track, ‘Princess of Darkness’, brings a unique and powerful touch to the album that I know you'll love. I honestly can’t tell you how excited I am to finally share this with you. ‘I Am The Hammer’ was made with so much heart, and I truly hope you’ll enjoy it as much as we loved creating it.
