Bio:

ÜLTRA RAPTÖR were formed in late 2015 and already in 2017 they released their first EP "Ültra Raptör" on a self-produced way, receiving a really good acceptance from the underground Heavy Metal scene. In late 2020, the band began recording their debut album "Tyrants", which was finished in early summer 2021 and immediately led to their signing with Fighter Records which released it in November of that year. During the following years, the band spent time playing shows around their homeland and already in 2024 they wrote what's their 2nd album "Fossilized" recording it during the first half of 2025 for an October release, again through Fighter Records. The style of ÜLTRA RAPTÖR, is a fast and intense Speed/ Heavy Metal, with influences from bands like SAVAGE GRACE, early RUNNING WILD, JUDAS PRIEST, RAGE, EXCITER, early ANGEL DUST, SAVATAGE...where the songs stand out for their cool catchy riffs and melodies, with excellent guitar solos, a relentless rhythmic base and a dynamic vocalist, creating a set of great potential that will give a lot to talk about.

Album:

1st album by this Canadian band that plays a fast and intense Speed/ Heavy Metal, with influences from bands like SAVAGE GRACE, early RUNNING WILD, JUDAS PRIEST, RAGE, EXCITER, early ANGEL DUST, SAVATAGE...Date of release November 9, 2021.Yeah, all the dinosaurs over there should take this course, including the razor-sharp and the very excited ones… cause if you run on the ice and snow with such velocity, no avalanche will reach you… ever. These lads opened their winter-surviving academy in 2015, and the short advertising self-titled course they offered three years later presented them as loyal advocates of the old school speed metal idea, this a bit over 20-min long fiesta ended with a ceremony during which all the dinosaurs in the Quebec area received Cadillacs for their perseverance in the Cold Canadian North. The dinosaur obsession gets diminished lyrics-wise on the album reviewed here, but the musical delivery remains within the hyper-active parametres, the band producing a smattering tribute to the early works of their compatriots Exciter and Razor. There’s also this restless epic urgency quite reminiscent of Helloween’s “Walls of Jericho” as well, which easily overtakes the unleashed fast-paced campaign more than just occasionally, like on the pulverizing “eagle fly free” opener “Missile (Metal Warrior)”, the singer possessing a levelled mid-ranged clean timbre which he frequently tests with piercing high-voltage screams, those totally appropriate, by the way, breaking a few glasses from your cherished, very expensive wine glass set. The parade breezes by memorably, with rapidfire cuts (“Take Me Back”, “An Offering to the Tyrant”) stirring moshpits everywhere, speedy non-fussy headbangers the obligatory pitstop called “Gale Runner”, a nice catchy mid-pacer, the actual guide for the gale runners arriving right after, the speed metal winner “The Quest for Relics”, its vehemence ably backed up by the brief early Razor worship “Caustic Shower”.I had so much fun listening to this slab, passed through it twice in succession on the same day, and moshed around like crazy, until I started slipping on the puddles of sweat formed on the floor (it’s still sunny, autumn November, after all…). Yep, these Canadian brothers rolled back the clock big time with their infectious speed metal hymns, also providing a most valuable soundtrack for any keep-fit exercise, both in and outdoors. Cause sometimes all we need is a 45-min slab of fist-pumping, horn-raising, air guitar-flying old school metal to help us shake the gathered rust from the tedium we’re subjected to… and thanks a million to these lads for providing it for us, the classic metal dinosaurs. The thing is that said lads are all busy with fully-operational outfits (the power metallers Tales of Destiny, the death/black metal hybriders Morgue, the black metal legion Monarque, the power/black metal metal cohort The Lightbriner, etc.)… could this be just a one-time collaboration? I sincerely hope not… come on, lads, leave the black and the power, and all the rest to your colleagues! Concentrate on keeping and educating the dinosaurs! They need your courses… you know well that a global colding is coming soon… how would they survive the impending gigantic avalanches without your precious guidance…
