Country : United States
Audio : 320 kbps + front

Bio:

Defcon is a melodic hard rock/AOR band from Akron, Ohio, USA, that was formed as "Def Con 1", later shortened to "Defcon" in 1987. Later relocated briefly to Chicago, Illinois, to record and sign a management contract with Rudy Sarzo. They would be managed from Chicago and travel there often, despite continuing to live and play frequent shows in Ohio. While being promoted nationally through their management in Chicago, they were also promoted locally through Ohio based publications like US Rocker, The Patrol, The Iron Planet, and Heavy Metal Demolition, and played frequent shows at the Akron Agora, Filthy McNasty's (Kent), Temple Tavern (Akron), Scooter's (Akron), Diversions (Cleveland) etc.

Album:

Midwest Hard rockers Defcon originated in Ohio prior to moving to - and taking over - the Chicago rock scene in the late 80s. With a rabid local following, the quartet built up an international fanbase through reviews in fanzines across the globe and the tape trading "network" around the world. This release consists of two discs, the original, remastered version of 'Time Waits For No One' as well as eight additional songs.Since 2005, the band has caught public attention once again as their self-titled album "Defcon" was reissued that year. Many years have passed after the album releasing and today this album can still arouse rock fans' passion with all the stunning hard rock gems, which symbolize the hair metal booming in the past golden era. There are several rock bands named the same "Defcon" on the rock music scene, featuring various genres. But at present, there is only one Defcon, featuring the glorious 1980s hair metal genre, arousing loyal hard/melodic rock fans' flaming hearts.Defcon's career started way back in the late 1980s. From 1989 to 1991, they managed to record some songs but they had no record deal. During the active years, Defcon had some singles only on the cassettes, but they weren't widely spread and didn't catch much public attention. But their music works can be comparable with many others artists with big fame. For whoever is the huge fans of XYZ, Shy, TNT, Heaven's Edge and the like, have a try on this precious one-off album "Defcon" re-released by Retrospect Records in 2005, featuring the mighty and sharp treble voice by the vocalist Mark Matthews. The vocal character maybe is common, but stunning. Here the song is the opening track "How Close". The song carries all the great charms that Defcon's album includes, enriched guitar works, compacted drum beats, powerful treble lead vocals, layered backing vocals and of course the flaming vibe on the whole. Defcon's songs are solid, but they emphasize a lot on melody presentations, so musically, the full-length album features the very melodious tunes on each track.Apart from this flaming "How Close", let Mark Matthews's killing and sizzling voice light up the fire from your heart with most of the songs. Maybe his singing is a bit too hysterical which will penetrate the eardrum, but we can catch the power of melodies from "Time Waits", "My Time To Fly", "Into The Night", "Cold Hearted" and "Never Too Far Away" (a power ballad, featuring the magic key works). In 2017, Defcon's "Maximum Readiness" was released. The CD contains all the songs from the ST album and three bonus songs which previously have been released on cassette tapes. Numerous rock jewels were submerged in history like the songs from Defcon. But finally the great chances on reissuing make them shine again in the light.
