LIVIN'EVIL was formed in 1992 by Patrick and Eric Pairon on guitars, soon joined by Antony Cochin on drums and Wilfried Roy on bass. The band recorded two demos on a 4-track recorder: one in 1993 called ‘THE TREEOFEVIL’ and the other in 1995 called ‘ILLUSORYDREAMS’. After a number of local gigs, Jérôme Viel joined the band as bassist in 1996, and played a number of gigs between then and 1998. The band then split up, Antony (drums) having left for professional reasons, so there was no drummer to replace him at the time. In the 1990s, Livin'Evil therefore offered a metaloldschool, where the guitarist Patrick Pairon was very influential in terms of both musical and technical solos. Unfortunately, Patrick passed away in 2018. 4 years after his death, Jérôme Vield decided to pay tribute to his departed friend by recording all the tracks recovered from the 2 demos and a few sketches of rehearsals and live performances, with a name-branded production. To begin with, he transcribed the rhythmic guitars with the help of 2 guitarist friends, Kiato Luu and J.A. Jacq. A new Vivin'Evil was born, and Fabio Alessandrini (Annihilator, Bonfire, Enemy Eyes) was hired as a session musician to record the drum parts for the 12 tracks chosen for the album.As soon as he heard these new versions and the potential they had, Jérôme decided to look for session guitarists to play alongside Patrick's solos, and Timo Tolkki was quick to come forward. After that, other talented guitarists were chosen, including: PhilTougas(FirstFragment-solos),SimonGirard(BeyondCreation),RolandGrapow(Masterplan,exHelloween),XavierBoscher(ExMisanthropeandautodidactmusician),KostaVreto(Wardrum). To record the vocals, Tasos Lazaris, an incredible talent, a true heavymetal voice inspired by Bruce Dickinson, Rob Halford, Michael Kiske and many others, also took part in the adventure! The original texts were lost, so Jérôme wrote new texts inspired by listening to the original songs (very difficult, but with the talent of Tasos, it worked perfectly). A new logo was written by the Quebec artist Audrey Pasquini and the album cover was given to the Brazilian artist ALCIDES BURN.The recording and mixing were entrusted to our friend Jérôme Guibert (UNFRAGMENT) and the mastering to MASTERLABSYSTEMS (Nantes-FRA), so ‘PrayersandTorments’ was released in March 2023! The initials of this title were changed to P.A.T. Second full-length album.Album released May 13, 2025.Hailing from France Livin‘ Evil have initially been formed way back in the early nineties. After two demos it seemed that they called it quits but rising from the ashes nearly three decades later they have released their debut full length called “Prayers and Torments”.Now in 2025 year is here second album "The Warriors Of The King" ...and again is great !!The production as well as the cover artwork both scream old school. The sound is very organic and while I personally prefer a bit more dynamic in general most fans of traditional metal might love this approach. The drums have a very natural sound and the guitars sit slightly back in the mix, allowing the lower spectrum and the bass to get a prominent presence. Overall “The Warriors Of The King” is a carefully hand-crafted piece of music and while a bit of trimming and restructuring would have made the album a tighter and more stringent package the end result should be checked out by any fan of classic old school metal.
