Alien Steel is a Heavy Metal band from Madrid founded in 2023 that was born from the union of five musicians with a common vision: to return Heavy Metal to its purest essence, without renouncing to its evolution. Their sound is forged in the tradition of classic Heavy Metal, with clear Old School influences, but open to the most modern sonorities. Debut full-length album "The Quest For Athoria". Eight tracks full of riffs, melody and power, with an epic and direct sound. One of the few bands in the national scene that have all the ingredients of authentic and real Heavy Metal.Alien Steel is Heavy Metal without concessions. Raw, real and with soul. If the cover art were an indicator of quality and we were to judge an album by it, then the cover art for the debut album by Spain's Alien Steel, entitled ‘The quest for athoria’, would take top honours. What an atmosphere, what detail and ingenuity. It is memorable for a long time, but it is not the beautiful cover that makes the difference. Something more is needed here. It is time to verify what this young band, which was formed in 2023, has to offer. Is the music as brilliant as the cover?The potential is there, and it's huge. When you have a talented vocalist like Carlos Saiz on board, you can do a lot. That charisma, that technique and the range of possibilities are impressive. A bit stylistically reminiscent of Tim Ripper Owens. An admirable performance. In his shadow is the rhythm section. The vocals are sweeping, and how are the guitar parts? Vargas and Diaz are a successful duo that relies on classics, on easily catchy riffs and catchy choruses. Everything would be beautiful if there was more aggression, power and some element of surprise. It is good, very good, but it is a little short of perfect. I feel unsatisfied, which is a pity, because there is great potential.The very start in the form of ‘Irruption’ is a display of instrumentalists. It's classic, melodic and atmospheric. That's an intro I can understand! The energetic ‘We all Shout’ is such a racy heavy metal track that draws from the 80s and the best bands. It's really good to listen to and you can hear the huge potential in Alien Steel. We get echoes of Grave Digger or Judas Priest in ‘Kings Of Death’. There's not an ounce of originality to it, but at the end of the day there is claw and ingenuity. One of the best tracks on the album. NWOBHM and Iron maiden influences can be picked out in the feisty ‘ Evil Ghost’ and it's another hit on the album. It sounds really great and you want more Alien Steel music. The topsy-turvy ‘The warewolf Inside Me’ is a good track, but it doesn't make such a frenzy anymore. A bit lacking in power is ‘Hostage Of Rage’ and this hard rock track could have been polished up more. Classic heavy metal we get in ‘Forever Victory’ and finally there is the extended and more epic ‘Athoria’. It is not boring and we get interesting guitar playing and the band has packed a lot of interesting motifs here. A very successful ending to the album.The cover is a real marvel, and the music? It's very good heavy metal in a classic way and it's an incredible pleasure to listen to. The vocals are first class and the rest of the musicians try to keep up with him. They don't always succeed. Refine the guitar parts, especially the more pronounced riffs, so that there is a wow effect. Alien Steel shines and shows that they have something to offer. A noteworthy debut and it is a shame that the potential has not been fully realised. Bravo Alien Steel! I look forward to more!
