Bio:

The band was formed in the fall of 2010 by guitarist/vocalist Gustav Lund and drummer Jerker Avander. Joined by guitarist Cr...istoffer Strand and bassist Simon Lundström the guys started jamming on some songs that Gustav originally wrote for his and Jerkers previous band. The vibe was there and everything just clicked. The bands sound was raw and heavy, inspired by groups like Motörhead, GnR, and Skid Row.During 2011, two demos was recorded and some live-shows was played. The live performances became well recieved by the audience, because the band really gave a 100% on stage. The decision was made not to record a third demo, but to go for a full-length album. Blister Brigade recorded eleven songs in the spring of 2013 and after having the album mixed and mastered, the search for a recordlabel began. Shortly after, the band got an answer from Sliptrick Records, a label who liked what they heard and wanted to release it. In december same year, Blister Brigade's debut album "To Serve And Punish" was released. The record with it's hard-hitting rock'n'roll, got really good reactions. So did the videos for the songs "The Punishment" and "Goodbye Ragdoll".Drummer Jerker Avander left the band in June 2016. Shortly after, Rickard Lundmark (Zonaria, ex-Feral) stepped in as Blister Brigades new drummer.A year later, bassist Simon Lundström decided to step of and got replaced by Anders Gustavsson.

Album:

Swedish Hard Rock / Heavy Metal band Blister Brigade is set to release their fourth studio album “A Rioting New Breed” on April 25th, 2025, via Inverse Records.Swedish street metal savages Blister Brigade are back with a new album, A Rioting New Breed, and my how they’ve grown since the last time I came across them on their 2020 effort, Slugfest Supreme!I felt the band offered oodles of promise on that last outing, without really threatening the destruction of hard rock’s existing order. And, whilst they still ain’t quite World Beaters yet, bruising efforts like Disturbing Lights really lead me to believe that the big time, such as it is for a melodic metal band in 2025, isn’t too far away.Conceited Punks is a magnificent slice of low slung madness; Gustav Lund‘s vocal style has come on leaps and bounds in the last half decade, and on this track in particular, aided by a magnificent production, he sounds like a real contender. That said, so do the rest of the band, none of whom miss a beat across an album that consists of ten all-killer-no-filler kuts; When the hammer falls they know how to bludgeon with the best of them, but they really hit the sweet spot when they harness the twin energies of G n’R and Skid Row. Conceited Punks sounds like it came screaming right out of 1989 – in a good way, natch, and the band knows just how to harness the just-under-the-surface menace of those times with some real earworm melodica that makes them, in this reviewer’s book at least, pretty irresistible. The Duke is another highlight, with Anders Gustavsson‘s bass forming a rumbling undernoise that’ll rattle your fillings till they pop out involuntarily into your jack n’coke; In swinging tandem with octopus-armed drummer Rickard Lundmark he plays a blinder here as the pair produce a beautiful bedrock over which Lund and guitar partner Samuel Larsson frolick with grim-faced, pseudo-thrash abandon. The whole thing is a heady mix that I absolutely can’t seem to get enough of – and neither can my neighbours!Like that 2020 album, there’s not a lot of out-and-out originality on show here, but frankly why bother breaking new ground when you can plough a well-worn furrow that throws up gems like insistent headbanger Bail Out? Blister Brigade have refined their art on ARNB, and if they progress at the same rate to their next album, then something quite magnificent might be in prospect. But for now, let’s just enjoy this near-perfect street metal exposition…
