Mentalist was founded in early 2018 by Peter Moog (guitar) and Kai Stringer (guitar) in Saarbruecken / Germany. They asked their friends Thomen Stauch (drums) and Florian Hertel (bass) to join Mentalist. In 2019 Rob Lundgren (vocals) completed the lineup.Our goal with Mentalist is to create a very melodic and powerful album that is bursting with power and enthusiasm. Mentalist is a melodic metal band from Saarbrücken, Germany that was founded in 2018. The band consists of Peter Moog (guitars), Thomen Stauch (drums, ex-Blind Guardian), Kai Stringer (guitars, Starchild), Florian Hertel (bass) and YouTube star Rob Lundgren on vocals. Mentalist's music is comprised of melodic power metal with a slightly progressive touch. The music is defined through a multitude of guitar melodies and vocal hooklines. Its major influences come from renowned bands like Iron Maiden, Helloween and Blind Guardian (through Thomen Stauch's drums). Daniel Heiman (ex-Lost Horizon) performs a duet with Lundgren on the song "Belief" while Oliver Palotai (Kamelot) appears as guest on all tracks on keyboards, except for "Whispering Winds". The band's name has a kind of mystical background. It is supported through the band's mascot Mentalist, which was designed by Thomas Ewerhard (known as the artist of the cover artwork for Avantasia).The Mentalist mascot is a recurring element in the cover artwork and fits in with both, the good and the bad aspects. During the live concerts some magical tricks are planned on stage, while the Mentalist in unique clad attire (robe, gloves, etc.) is supported by fog and a crystal ball. The front cover was designed by Andreas Marschall (Blind Guardian, Running Wild). The mix & mastering were handled by Christian 'Moschus' Moos at Spacelab Mixing in Viersen, Germany.

MENTALIST is a Melodic Metal band from Saarbrücken, Germany that was founded in 2018. The group consists of Peter Moog (guitars), Thomen Stauch (drums, ex BLIND GUARDIAN), Kai Stringer (guitars, ex STARCHILD) and Swedish singer extraordinaire Rob Lundgren on vocals.After the highly successful debut release “Freedom Of Speech” in 2020, the group now returns with its sophomore release “A Journey Into The Unknown”. Just like the predecessor, this new opus puts a strong focus onto huge guitar melodies and vocals lines amongst others. MENTALIST’s influences from the genre’s greats such as Iron Maiden, Helloween and Blind Guardian still shine through – but they formed their own identity.Oliver Palotai (Kamelot; keyboards on all tracks) and Mike LePond (Symphony X, bass on all tracks) together with singer Henning Basse (Metalium, Firewind; backing vocals on most tracks, plus a duet on "Live Forever") all appear as guests on this record.“A Journey Into The Unknown” again also showcases an incredible artwork designed by Andreas Marschall (Blind Guardian, Running Wild) – starring the band’s mascot, the Mentalist. The Mentalist continues his journey as recurring element in the group’s artwork and during their live shows with visual effects.

Mix & mastering this time was handled by Jacob Hansen (Volbeat, Amaranthe, Pretty Maids etc.).

Hardly any other new band has been able to stir up as much dust in the power metal scene in recent years with their first three albums as the Saarbrücken and Stockholm-based formation MENTALIST!After the huge success of their debut “Freedom Of Speech” (2020), the group, consisting of Peter Moog (guitars), Thomen Stauch (drums, ex BLIND GUARDIAN), Kai Stringer (guitars) and exceptional vocalist Rob Lundgren (vocals), only narrowly missed the German Media Control album charts with their 2021 album “A Journey Into The Unknown” (trend charts: 63rd place)! On iTunes, MENTALIST achieved an impressive #2 as the highest position in the metal charts; in the Facebook group “Power Metal” with more than 110K followers, “A Journey Into The Unknown” was voted the best power metal album of 2021.“Empires Falling” (2023) easily topped its predecessor with a long overdue placement in the official German charts and a subsequent German tour in late fall of the same year.The fourth album, entitled “Earthbreaker”, is a little heavier than its predecessors. Even more speed, even heavier riffs and epic moments characterize this melodic masterpiece! Both guitarists Kai Stringer and Peter Moog embellish the compositions in an enchanting way with their virtuoso guitar playing. The intensity of the hooklines and the vocals give you goose bumps.
