Bio:

GYPSY PISTOLEROS are "The World's Greatest Flamenco Sleaze Glam Rock 'N' Roll band Ever!" ! Combining their truly unique mix of flamenco rumba which gleefully collides with old school punk and rock 'n' roll riffs!!Gypsy Pistoleros are still something truly unique and interesting in today’s predictable musical landscape. A sound and style that mixed sleazy glam rock with flamenco influences and a shout out to Mexican folklore and Spanish tendencies. The sound is flamenco in a head on collision with punk/rock riffs, pounding bass and thrashing drums. The songs span madly in the best rock 'n' roll tradition with big hooks, attitude, and sleaze. Yet those flamenco breaks got into your head and refused to leave - this hybrid rocks. This mongrel offspring of fiery flamenco passion and gritty gutter glam, the Gypsy Pistoleros' were born roamin' somewhere between Barcelona and Birmingham, brought into the world to a soundtrack stack-heeled anthems of sleazy ‘70s America. Standing alone in musical ancestry and sum sound, they were one one of those most rare acts who can honestly claim the tag 'unique'.The insane inspiration came from frontman and songwriter Gypsy Lee Pistolero who began wielding this unique sound whilst living in Zaragoza (Spain) whilst supporting The Ramones in 1993.The Gypsy Pistoleros have always had a reputation for danger and played five Rocklahoma festivals 2007-11, in Oklahoma, USA , where they appeared alongside Motley Crue, Guns n Roses, Poison, ZZ top, Twisted sister, Faster Pussycat, Vain, Papa Roach, Whitesnake, Skid Row, Black Label Society. Normally closing each night! They have toured extensively, playing with the likes of L.A. Guns, Faster Pussycat, Adler’s Appetite, UFO, Motorhead, Ratt, Dogs D'amour, Dirty Penny, Bang tango, Wrathchild, Vains Of Jenna, Twisted Sister, Poison, Vince Neil, Bang Tango, Skid Row, Slaughter, Faster Pussycat, Dokken and ZZ Top.,

Album:

As unique as you can get in rock music, GYPSY PISTOLEROS mash-up hard rock, flamenco, glam, sleaze, and even western film score styles into a hell of an engrossing album. Each song is a story and fits into the overall epic. Well, 2021 and lockdown sees them reborn with new new line-up that consists of Gypsy Lee Pistolero (vocals/guitars) Mark Westwood of Shadowland (guitars), Gaz Le Bass (double bass), Jan Vincent Vellazco (drums) and Kris Jones (trumpet) and hopefully some shows to come! These fictional names are from experienced musicians from the Prog Rock scene, taking this side project to create something different. “The Mescalito Vampires +2” is their new album, and a lot of fun.How would an Eagles classic sound making the basis of a Gypsy Pistoleros song? “’The Mescalito Vampires (Welcome To The Hotel De La Muerto)’ does just that. Taking a little bit of ‘Hotel California’, a lot of Hanoi Rocks and Mexican twang, helps to make on the album’s many highlights. The mash-up action comes thick in the form of ‘Lost In A Town Called Nowhere’, ‘Viva La Revolution’ and ‘Soho Daze, Just Another Friday Night’. The latter has a nice hard rocking 80’s flavor, Guns N’ Roses vibe to it.It is not all breakneck paced though as the ballad ‘The Name’s Django’ shows the Gypsy Pistoleros have a few tricks up their sleeve. Starting off as a gentle ballad, complete with gentle guitar before midway through it goes fast paced, no holds barred punkish, then ending as quietly as it began.Songs like ‘Cisco Kid’ and ‘Gonna Die With A Gun In My Hand’ have the listener imagining Wild West shoot outs or gunfighter duels in the hot sun at midday. These songs would be perfect for any Tarantino Western soundtrack. Then there’s the mariachi-fueled Punk rock of ‘Roses, Gallows and the Wild Preachers Daughter’, and the Flamenco party of ‘Forsaken’ two that really get it spot on as fusion goes.‘Wild Is the Wind’ isn’t a Bon Jovi cover but it brings to mind Jon’s ‘Young Guns’ album, and even adds some melodic hard rock to the Gypsy Pistoleros’s pastiche. The album ends with a superb cover of the Love classic ‘Alone Again Or’.The acoustic guitar on this is stunning, as is indeed the band’s take on the song, going for a mellow vibe which works really well.Imagine the house band from Robert Rodriguez / Tarantino film ‘From Dusk Til Dawn’ jamming with early era ZZ Top, a youthful Guns N’ Roses and the Gypsy Kings, and you get the Gypsy Pistoleros.

Line-Up:

Album:

They came, they stomped, they uncaged their creative Jaleo and they rode triumphantly into the sunset. That is the best way to describe UK rockers GYPSY PISTOLEROS in regard to their new album, Duende A Go Go Loco!, and a collection of spirit enlivening encounters which drool Latin romance, breed renegade misdemeanour and holler with hellraising voracity.GYPSY PISTOLEROS have been rocking the senses for a fair while but it was with their reinvention of themselves and the fresh twists to their rebel rousing sound that they have truly begun to stir full-on attention and following plaudits. They uncage a sound that is a fusion of punk, hard rock, glam and straightforward voracious rock n’ roll around a Flamenco Rumba heart and energy, something akin to a mix of LOS SINGLES, THE HEARTBREAKERS and TURBONEGRO for our ears but still wholly individual. As Duende a Go Go Loco! proves it makes for an eventful and unpredictable encounter, a release that also sees the band unleash their heaviest and most rapacious adventure yet but one which still had us swinging on its infection-loaded grooves and dancing with its almost pugilistic rhythmic incitement.Over the years the Worcester-based band has made their mark and stoked a rich live reputation, They have played five Rocklahoma festivals in Oklahoma from 2007-11, sharing stages with the likes of Mötley Crüe, Guns n Roses, Poison, ZZ Top, Twisted Sister, Faster Pussycat, Papa Roach, Whitesnake, Skid Row, and Black Label Society at the event as well as playing numerous tours and shows with artists such as L.A. Guns, Adler’s Appetite, UFO, Motorhead, Dogs D’amour, Dirty Penny, Wrathchild, Vains Of Jenna, Poison, Vince Neil, Bang Tango, Slaughter, and Dokken. The list goes on just as the gathering of new fans and praise and with no more keen energy than now for Duende A Go Go Loco!Recorded, mixed and produced by Dave Draper (The Wildhearts, Nickelback, Kerbdog, Terrorvision, The Professionals), Duende A Go Go Loco! opens with its title track, the song initially prowling the listener as its climate of melodic and sonic enterprise gathers. Similarly, shadows surround the song and its imagination sparking premise as a Morricone shaded shuffle erupts, the rhythms of bassist Kerry Pistolero White and drummer Crag Pistolero Shape like a fleet-footed boxer in movement and jab. The equally dextrous vines and swinging grooves of guitarist Shane Pistolero Sparkz similarly had us totally involved and greedily immersing into vocalist Gypsy Lee Pistolero’s tale and celebration of dark deeds and even darker heroes. The great rousing start to the release keenly continues as I Got it All jumps on rock ‘n’ roll instincts in an avalanche of manipulative rhythms. Swiftly, melodic and sonic drama weaves their webs too as Gypsy Lee further colours the encounter with his infectious tones and eventful tale. Everything about the song is a virulent involvement for ear and physical and vocal participation alike, as our beleaguered neighbours to the office can testify to.Revolution is next up, it too predacious in its presence and manipulative in its tapestry of dextrous craft and creative nagging. It also stretches the variety of flavours that GYPSY PISTOLEROS bring to the release, its punk rock stomping taking no prisoners as it implores them into action before What’s it like to be a Girl? contemplates and swings in seventies glam pop kissed style; the quizzical look on those same neighbours faces showing we could not resist hollering along.Everything about the album made us want to get involved whilst relishing the rock ‘n’ roll instincts of its creators, The Ballad of Tommy Shelby an echo of that with its fifties hued lament which subsequently brews into a raucous deluge of punk ‘n’ roll contagion. It is another for which an instinctive collaboration between song and listener is inevitable, that fifties rock ‘n’ roll inclination a swooning temptation within the track’s ravenous incitement and mischievous trickery. One of the album’s lead singles is next, Like Tears in the Rain having already proved itself our favourite GYPSY PISTOLEROS song so far, though seriously and constantly challenged across Duende A Go Go Loco! to be fair. It does prevail though courtesy of its rhythmic pulse, invasively foraging riffs and full-on rock ‘n’ roll voracity in its homage and build on the inspiration of one of Bladerunner’s most evocative scenes. Hooks evolve in every aspect of the track, in voice and sound feral catchiness and composed enterprise delivers pure temptation to which we have no resistance. As Thrill Kill Killer Club gloriously springs its sinister webs of provocation and waves of raucously cunning belligerence and in turn Maybe Tomorrow involves ears and thoughts in impassioned Latin punk seduction, GYPSY PISTOLEROS only drew us deeper into their album with its latest single, I’ll Remember You casting a glow wrapped ballad, though a song unsurprisingly with spirals of sonic grooves and subsequent clamorous winds to only tighten the album’s grip on the passions. A tale of tragedy and loss with a mystical intimation, the track proved another thick magnet. The album concludes with a glorious cover of the Dexy’s classic Come on Eileen. We are not going to claim that GYPSY PISTOLEROS eclipse the original with their version but it will definitely leave you alive in joy and breathless from eager participation as it brings the release to a triumphant close. We will admit we are not as au fait with every GYPSY PISTOLEROS release as we should be but we feel secure it saying that Duende A Go Go Loco! is their finest offering to date and that it is one of the year’s true gems.

Album:

If gene splicing scientists had created the GYPSY PISTOLEROS, they would have a certain set of ingredients in front of them to arrive at this raucous mix of glam rock, theatrical rock and shambolic punk. Firstly, one has to look at rock musicals like ‘Rocky Horror Show’ and perhaps a dash of ‘Grease’ to ensure we are blessed with the sort of harmonies that somehow 4 people manage to deliver instead of an ensemble cast. Then we pick up a healthy slice of 70s British glam rock. There’s no denying the nods towards T-Rex, Slade, Wizzard, and more from the era into Gypsy Pistoleros’ music.“Church Of The Pistoleros” is the title of their upcoming new album, forged from the fires of youthful angst, with a shared love of classic rock and glam with a hint of rebellious punk thrown in for good measure. Through 10 tracks, they bring to your ears an unadulterated dose of electrifying goodness. These face-pinted capable musicians lead by Gypsy Lee Pistolero (real name Lee-Mark Jones) have unleashed an album like no other. From the grimy depths of hell, they have pulled out the most sonic force of an album to be reckoned with; ‘Church Of The Pistoleros’.From the opening riff of title track ‘Church of the Pistoleros’ to the final echoing crash of ‘The Prayer’, the new album from Gypsy Pistoleros is a roaring testament to their enduring power. While some bands mellow with age, Gypsy Pistoloeros seem to have only grown hungrier as they deliver a collection of tracks on this album that are both fiercely energetic and surprisingly nuanced.Guitarist Shane Pistolero Sparkz shreds with such ferocity that’s reminiscent of his early days, while Gypsy Lee showcases their vocals with a gritty authenticity that’s earned him his devoted following. His vocals are raw and pulsating throughout this whole album, with its high-octane formula which injects you like a drug. This album provides tracks with choruses that are guaranteed to get stuck in your head (cheesy earworm incoming!) especially track 5, Ricky Martin’s Livin La Vida Loca (!) done glammy n’ roll. The album is a bold step forward, showing that the band isn’t afraid to experiment with more complex arrangements, solidifying their place as a cornerstone of the modern rock society’s landscape. With a barrage of relentless riff driven rock tracks this band has clearly doubled down on their unique sound with a healthy dose of swagger – this band has proven yet again that they are power hungry to remain at the top of the rock ladder.

Then we pick up a healthy slice of 70s British glam rock. There’s no denying the nods towards T-Rex, Slade, Wizzard, and more from the era into Gypsy Pistoleros’ music. We are presenting in exclusive GYPSY PISTOLEROS upcoming new album “Dark Faerie Tales” which isn’t as immediate as its predecessor – the glorious Church Of The Pistoleros from last year – rather, in the way that many albums that end up becoming your all-time favorites have, it gives up it’s secrets and delights more cautiously, bidding you as a listener to do a bit more of the heavy lifting this time around. The end result is the same by the way – they’ve delivered another ripper here.In the shape of tracks like the, um, rattling good Rattler, or the fabulously down-at-heel King Of Almost Everything, the band have come up with another haul of ragged-trousered signature tunes for the dispossessed or, more likely in today’s climate, those who never had anything in the first place.Gypsy Lee Pistolero plays his role as gin-soaked rabble rouser to the hilt again, rallying the troops around anthemic all-go-down-together singalongs Take My Hand To Nightmare Land and I’m The Prince of the Damned; Wild-eyed conviction has always been his strong suit, and in producer /co-writer Dave Draper he at last seems to have found the foil he needs to channel that piss n’vinegar for good.Gypsy Pistoleros no longer seems like a half-baked gimmick, but a viable rallying point, a force for hope in dark and worrying times. Not many bands have the strength of character to take on such a mantle, but on the evidence of their last two records I’m starting to think the Pistoleros might just be such an outfit… Get this record as soon as you can.
