Bio:

Alleycat Scratch was an American glam metal band formed in San Francisco, California, United States, in 1988.The band never gained popularity or commercial success due to the grunge movement of the 1990s.Their music has been considered highly underrated. The band has only released two albums to date.Their debut album, Deadboys in Trash City, has been considered some of the best sleaze rock of the period. Alleycat Scratch disbanded in 1994.

Album:

Sunset Strip ’80s rockers ALLEYCAT SCRATCH have a new album titled “Return To Trash City : Reimagined, Remixed, Remastered” available via FnA Records that is a reworked version of their debut record ‘Deadboys In Trash City (1993)’.The album has been pretty ‘Reimagined’ indeed, as we can here several changes compared to the original release; different drums, other layers of guitars, unused intros, and more. All has been remixed & remastered by lead singer Eddie Robison, who brought ALLEYCAT SCRATCH a harder edged with soulful vocal style. The tracks have been given great care and painstakingly tweaked and every little nuance and every part of the songs were reimagined. The Remixing of… and Remastering of the original files is somewhat closer to what ALLEYCAT SCRATCH imagined and where they wanted to go utilizing the 1993 master files.“Return To Trash City : Reimagined, Remixed, Remastered” contains all the songs you love from ALLEYCAT SCRATCH, but now getting a fresh new life. From the streets of the Sunset Strip underground come the sleazy glam rocking tracks like the bombastic staple “Take A Bite Outta Me”, the punchy “Stiletto Strut”, and the ethereal obligatory ballad, “Roses On My Grave.”So how does one reimagine, remix, and remaster a new album without being a replica of the first version of the album? It starts with baking the tapes and grabbing the stems, then painstakingly tweak it until the tracks create a whole new beast. The most direct and best way to put it is how Eddie worked on it: “The original recordings in 1993 were analog and were recorded to 2 inch wide tapes. Each tape is striped with 24 tracks and on each track something was recorded. One track would have a vocal, one with a guitar, one with the bass, etc. Robert (drummer Robbi Black) kept those tapes and he had them digitized into 24 separate wave files for each tape. I used a piece of software called Ableton live, which is for audio production. Each of the 24 stems/wave files went into Ableton and were put onto 24 separate tracks. Each track was adjusted in volume and you can put reverb or compression or delay or EQ, etc. on every track. You do this until it sounds right and all the levels create a good mix. When you’ve achieved what you want, that is rendered out into a mixed wave file. That is then brought back into the software on one track and you apply a mastering chain to it. That consists of more EQ, boosting and limiting and other mastering tools to bring out all of the frequencies to where it sounds pleasing to the ear.”No one was closer to that dream of super stardom than ALLEYCAT SCRATCH. These guys set the blueprint of what American Sleazy Metal and Glam Rock were. The band was all about excess… They ate, breathed, played, snorted and slept their way to the top. With the release of “Return To Trash City : Reimagined, Remixed, Remastered”, ALLEYCAT SCRATCH takes you back to Trash City with a reworked version of the genre defining cult classic ‘Deadboys In Trash City’.Reimagined, remixed and remastered version of Alleycat Scratch - Deadboys In Trash City from the original two inch master tape.Released in a clear tray standard jewel case with a 6-panel booklet featuring photos, credits and liner notes. An autographed Fan Pack version including the CD signed by 3 members (Eddie, Boa, and Devin), a guitar pick and a sticker was also available, limited to 100 copies.
