Your favourite pirates have returned. Pirate Queen hail from the floating island of Lyxion in the Bermuda Triangle. Descendants of legendary pirate families, they have been sailing the seas for over 500 years, having founded the band in 1524.Two years ago, Pirate Queen stormed the scene like a restless sea with the release of their debut album “Ghosts”. They now return with their new album "Travelling Around The World".All-female pirate metal band PIRATE QUEEN release their second full-length album “Travelling Around The World” on 4 September. The album is a new entry in the fantasy band’s mythology as a crew of immortal female pirates from the Bermuda Triangle. Equipped with tricorn hats, swords, and instruments, they bring power metal from their floating island of Lyxion around the world.With some crew (that is, lineup) changes from their first album “Ghosts,” PIRATE QUEEN has changed from operatic vocal style to power metal belts. The catchy riffs and melodies are easy to sing along with, and the lyrics mix the fantasy lore of the female pirate crew formed in 1524 with real historical figures and locations from the history of piracy.The short album begins with fanfare and the sounds of a creaking ship, where a pirate announces the “Arrival Of The Queen” at Lyxion Royal Palace. From here, the band takes the listener “Sailing Around The World” with upbeat rhythms.The single “William Kidd” tells the legend of the Scottish privateer born in 1645. He was hung as a pirate, but legend tells that his buried treasure is still to be found. PIRATE QUEEN’s version of the story adds that William Kidd threw a treasure map into the air at his execution, shouting: “My treasure is for her who can understand.”The title of the next song, “Ciudad de Tacoronte,” refers to the Spanish city in the Canary Islands. A gentle piano intro transitions into an epic, sweeping sound as the lyrics trace the crew’s journey across the sea.The members of PIRATE QUEEN are Her Majesty Elizabeth Noir Nuit (vocals), Ariel Coral Shin (bass), Raindrop Oceanus (drums), Victoria Pearl Fata-Morgana (guitar), and Destiny Grieflord (guitar), who has a theme song on this album. “Her Majesty Captain Destiny Grieflord” dances to changing tempos as it tells the story of the captain, with a chorus that declares: “Hail to her majesty.”“Lyxion” opens with the sound of crashing waves and distant calling seabirds before a guitar fades in. A triumphant vocal melody proclaims Lyxion as the kingdom of the pirate queen.The album is fairly short but has memorable songs, with 8 tracks coming in just over 30 minutes. PIRATE QUEEN’s upbeat, catchy power metal slows down for “Shanty,” in which a chorus of different voices join thumping drums and ominous bell tolls for a sea shanty.
