Christian Hard Rock/Heavy Metal band based in Piteå, Sweden in 1992.In April 1992 the single Be There Forever/Overlord was released. In May, Laudamus got a good backup on the guitar front by Stefan Berg. In July, Pelle quit. The name of the new bass player was Fredrik Burström. As soon as he'd joined the band, they started the work with the material that would turn out to result in a CD-single, Ready or Not, once again with Simonsen behind the wheel.-1993-In February Laudamus released the "Ready or not" single. Peter and Anneli got married that summer. The last demo with this line-up was made in December this year, called Realise/ Until The End.-1994-This year meant a lot of changes for the band, and Laudamus went underground for a while. That spring, bass guitarist Burström left the band and Peter's younger brother Jonas filled in. As summer announced its presence, Sandlund and then Anneli announced their departure. Left standing were the Stenlund bros...Together with Micke Linné and partly also Stefan Berg, they played temporary in a new project called Reach Out.-1995-1997-Linné moved to Gothenburg to study, and was suddenly gone. From the fall of -95 and for the following two years, Marcus Nyström sat behind the drums while Göran Norberg stood behind the keyboard. A rock-mass was put together and got crowded the two times it was performed in 1997. Jonas Cederteg replaced Nyström in December -97, and now Laudamus got their fire relighted.-1998-The band started to play live again and now with Jocke Axelsson on keyboard. During the spring, the idea of a full-length CD had grown strong and the material was basically already made.-1999-In January the boys began the recording work. The three guys rehearsed very intensive that year. Owing to different circumstances, the recording took a long time. The CD was released December 12th 1999.-2002-Laudamus is heading for USA and the recording of the new album “Lost in vain”. The very much talented and competent Ken Tamplin is going to produce the album and it turns out to be a fortunate collaboration. In addition to Ken Tamplins ideas and vocals an impressive line of guests appeared as well: Jeff Scott Soto, Kee Marcello, IA Eklund, Ed Roth, Howie Simon, and Marty Friedman all did a great job spicing up the party!-2003-Release of the new album “Lost in vain”.-2006-Laudamus releases the album called the black one, this time with Peter as producer and Jonas as technician. It turns out a heavier sound, melodic thinking with thoughtful lyrics. Peter Stenlund does lead vocals, additional vocals and guitar, Jonas Stenlund plays the bass, Jonas Cederteg plays the drums and Lars Nilssons fast and flexible fingers plays the keyboard on this production.-2008-Anders Wigenstam joins the band after a successful audition. Rehearsals start, to get the band ready to play live again. The “new premier” takes place august 2 at lulekalaset, and features for the first time: Ellinor on keyboard. This is the new line up, and the band is ready to get out and play again. There will be 6 more shows before the end of the year.-2009-Laudamus continue to play live, and are doing 13 gigs this year. The band is writing a few new songs.-2010-The band starts to discuss a new record, and writes some more material.-2011-This year starts with low intensity. The band is tired from a lot of work, and the fact that the recording process is not really happening is taking its toll as well. However, the second half of the year is turning out great as Laudamus goes on tour with Whitecross.The collaboration is successful, and more plans are starting to take form.

Today is being reissued Swedes LAUDAMUS‘ second album “Lost In Vain“, originally appeared 2003.These guys were discovered at a Stryper Expo, and while they are a Christian Metal act, lyrics are not preachy, and Escape Music signed them for the release of “Lost In Vain”.LAUDAMUS comprises 3 talented musicians in love with well-crafted Eighties influenced melodic metal / hard rock. Frontman Peter Stenlund contributes a solid mid-octave ranged vocal style to the songs. Stenlund play guitar as well, while bassist Jonas Stenlund and drummer Jonas Cederteg round out the rhythm section.Bringing Ken Tamplin on board to produce was a wise decision. “Lost in Vain” sounds full and big, and pretty ‘American’. Tamplin play some guitar / backing vocals too, and he brought some amazing musicians to elevate things to the next level.Jeff Scott Soto and Rob Rock perform lead vocals and there’s numerous lead guitar appearances: Marty Friedman, Mattias Eklundh, Kee Marcello, Howie Simon. On keyboards there’s Ed Roth (Impellitteri).And we have strong songs to boot, with a Stryper-esque approach, add some Shout (which is no surprise, since Ken Tamplin produced this album), JSSoto’s Talisman, Lynch Mob, etc.After the albums title track gradually fades in, a hard rocking combination of driving rhythm guitar and heavy duty bass lines urges it to a catchy chorus carried at an upbeat tempo. Marty Friedman steps forward with several seconds of blazing lead guitar work.Driven by vocal harmonies during its first and second verse, “Mother Evolution” culminates as a trade off between Stenlund’s lead voice and the vocal harmonies in question carry its chorus. Mattias Eklundh contributes a flashy fast fingered guitar solo to a song taking a tongue in cheek approach to the theory of evolution.Initiated by a drum solo, “My Hearts On Fire” moves forward in a strong and steady fashion until it gains momentum for a chorus accentuated by huge Stryper-like vocal harmonies. Stenlund tops things off with an aggressively delivered guitar solo.The hard hitting riff introducing “In The Final Hour” gives way to a lead vocal trade off between Stenlund and Jeff Scott Soto, Stenlund taking the first and third verse with Soto’s gritty voice handling the second and fourth. The same riff opening the song returns to fortify an immaculate chorus underlined by keyboards. Stenlund combines with Howie Simon for just under a minute of dual lead guitar work.Ken Tamplin and Rob Rock join Stenlund on lead vocals on the straightforward hard rocker “Die”. Highlighted by a just the right amount of keyboards as it moves through its first verse, “Die” culminates as it attains a strong chorus with a heavy groove feel. Pounding drums open an instrumental passage featuring a lead guitar trade off between Stenlund and Tamplin.After the fast paced “I Am” jumps out of the gate to a plethora of rapid double bass, the bass guitar carries its first verse and rhythm guitar the bridge that ensues. Double bass continues to underscore the song as it picks up in pace for an energy-laden chorus with a good catchy hook.The bluesy mid-tempo paced hard rocker “Lay Your Burdens Down” opens to a drum solo before an upfront mix of rhythm guitar takes it to a chorus buttressed by deep sounding vocal harmonies. Stenlund steps forward with twenty seconds of razor sharp lead guitar work.Subsequent to a crunchy rhythm guitar pushing “Salvation” through its first verse, the song gains impetus for a chorus ending with the word “salvation” emphasized in heavy handed fashion. Howie Simon and Stenlund furnish a minute of electrifying dual lead guitar work.“Hear My Prayer”, a classy acoustic based ballad coming in at just under six minutes, showcases Ken Tamplin’s tasteful work on Spanish guitar. An acoustic guitar slowly propels the song through its first verse until the rhythm guitar steps forward just before it builds in momentum for a strong commercial flavored chorus. “Hear My Prayer” closes as an acoustic guitar solo transitions to over a minute of lead guitar work.”Lost In Vain” proves a solid effort from front to back musically in that all of its tracks hold up under repeated play. Its numerous guest appearances and the band’a energetic performance help to put it over the top.
