Melodic rock/AOR project from UK, formed by British singer, songwriter and producer Alistair Gordon, who is also a solo musician, active in the 1980s.Radio Silence had three studio albums, which were all released by label Escape Music, but don't let Radio Silence's music escape from every AOR fan's collection, because these albums are simply amazing. Alistair Gordon performed lead vocals, keyboards, songwriting and producing in Radio Silence.Radio Silence vocalist Alistair Gordon was the centre piece of a strong debut album "Radio Silence" (1997) which was a nice example of very smooth pop AOR, without actually heading into Westcoast territory."Sirens" is the singer's 2nd album, backed by a band featuring guitarist Steve Morris (Heartland), Frank Baker, Dave Hopia & Mike Hehir.The album also features backing vocals from the late great Paul Young - one of the last vocal works he performed.Third album "Whose Skin Are You Under Now?" is from 2009 issued again through Escape Music records.Its a fine collection of songs Alistair Gordon wrote/co- wrote during the course of the last few years.Ten of the tracks on the new album were recorded at JM studios in Gothenburg Sweden under the ever watchful ears & eyes of Martin Kronlund {co-producer }, with a handpicked selection of The finest Swedish musicians who became the nucleus of “the band”.Two additional songs were recorded in Revolution studios & abc studios in Manchester U.K. - Unlike the first two Albums, this Radio Silence album was recorded very much in a “live band” situation which is reflected not only in the performances of the band, but also in the vocal department.
Alistair Gordon has been working professionally in the music industry for many years.He was already a successful & accomplished singer / songwriter & musician before he began producing records which he started from his home studio in 1996.Since then he has produced several Multi Platinum & Gold Albums & singles released in territories all over the world.Alistair has recorded, written with, and / or produced the following artists:Russell Watson, Lionel Richie, Paul Young (Mike And The Mechanics), Shaun Ryder (Happy Mondays), Atomic Kitten, Sweet Female Attitude, Ladysmith Black Mambazo, Lisa Stansfield, Sad Cafe, The Average White band, Mick Jones (Foreigner), Alan Hull (Lindisfarne) and Tony Banks (Genesis) – to name but a few.

With the CD many years out of print, Escape Music reissued past year the 2001 album ”Sirens” by RADIO SILENCE, which hits on that true sound of genuine British AOR / Melodic Rock.RADIO SILENCE is basically the project name that UK vocalist Alistair Gordon (Tony Banks Band) uses. He’s helped here by renowned musicians from the genre, especially Steve Morris (Heartland, Gillan, Lonerider) not only co-producing, but also playing guitar. So expect a pristine sound and smooth melodies.Other class musicians contributing include Kenny Kaos (The Distance, Stranded), Mike Hehir (The Law, Corey Hart), Dave Hopia (Heartland), Steve Pigott (Mitch Malloy) and more. ”Sirens” also features the late Paul Young (Mike + the Mechanics, solo) co-writing and providing backing vocals, his last recordings before passing away.With Steve Morris involved, ”Sirens” sounds very close to Heartland: smooth melodies, lovely harmonies, sweet hooks, at places pretty power pop or light Melodic Rock.‘Sirens Song’ is a wonderful opener, but it’s on track number two ‘Poison Ivy’ that we see the great flare for a catchy songwriting that Gordon has. ‘Answer My Prayer’ delivers superb AOR waves, while ‘Shame’ brings to mind Mike + the Mechanics.”Sirens” mixes only a couple of ballads with a stack of mid and uptempo songs, all strong regarding the genre. A fine record featuring a good lead vocalist that doesn’t clone any other singers out there, and sound timeless and fresh today.
