Bio:

Evanescence /ˌɛv.æn.ˈɛs.ɛns/ is an American rock band founded in Little Rock, Arkansas in 1995 by singer/pianist Amy Lee and guitarist Ben Moody. After recording independent albums, the band released their first full-length album, Fallen, on Wind-up Records in 2003. Fallen sold more than 17 million copies worldwide[4] and helped the band win two Grammy Awards out of seven nominations, as well as scoring No. 6 in CBS's "Top Bestselling Albums of the Last 10 Years" (2008).A year later, Evanescence released their first live album, Anywhere but Home, which sold more than one million copies worldwide. In 2006, the band released their second studio album, The Open Door, which sold more than five million copies. The line-up of the group has changed several times: David Hodges leaving in 2002, co-founder Moody left in 2003 (mid-tour), bassist Will Boyd in 2006, followed by guitarist John LeCompt and drummer Rocky Gray in 2007, and Terry Balsamo in 2015. As a result, none of the band's three studio albums feature the same lineup. The latter two changes led to a hiatus, with temporary band members contributing to tour performances. Billboard ranked Evanescence No. 71 on the Best Artists of the Decade chart.Announced in June 2009, the newest line-up of the band eventually returned with Evanescence, their self-titled third studio album, released on October 11, 2011. It debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart with 127,000 copies in sales. The album also debuted at No. 1 on four other different Billboard charts; the Rock Albums, Digital Albums, Alternative Albums, and the Hard Rock Albums charts. The band spent 2012 on tour in promotion of their latest album with other bands including The Pretty Reckless and Fair to Midland. Troy McLawhorn also became a full-time band member during this time. Following the end of the album's tour cycle in 2012, the band entered another hiatus. In 2015, the band emerged from hiatus and announced they would resume touring; however, they denied that new Evanescence material was being produced, as Lee was focusing on a solo project instead. In addition, Balsamo left the band and was replaced by Jen Majura. Late 2016 saw additional touring from the band and a statement from Lee that Evanescence would continue.

Album:

Sanctuary is the upcoming sixth album by the American rock band Evanescence, set to be released on June 5, 2026, through BMG and Columbia Records, produced by Jordan Fish, Nick Raskulinecz, and Zakk Cervini. It is the band's first album to feature bassist Emma Anzai.Sanctuary has been supported by two singles: "Afterlife", released on March 28, 2025 as part of the Devil May Cry soundtrack; and "Who Will You Follow", released on April 10, 2026. A supporting tour in promotion of the album is set to embark on June 11, 2026, with a first concert in West Palm Beach, Florida. In September 2024, the band stated that they would be entering the studio to record new music for their sixth studio album that November. The album's fifth track, "Afterlife," from the Netflix animated series Devil May Cry, was released as a single on March 28, 2025. Amy Lee called it "the first of many" new songs that were to be released. In December 2025, Lee stated that there would be a new Evanescence album released in 2026.The album's title was announced in March 2026, and its artwork and tracklist were revealed. The lead single, "Who Will You Follow", was released on April 10 to positive reception.Speaking about the album's title during an interview with Kerrang! on April 22, 2026, Lee revealed how she came up with it during a tour in Australia: "I said, 'This is our sanctuary, we find comfort and connection through the power of music.'"She further elaborated how with the record, she tried to raise the bar of how honest the music was as compared to preivous albums. Made in the midst of American president Donald Trump's re-election as US president, Lee revealed how the album came about when the band was stunned by the political turmoil in the country and wanted to channel the emotions of rage and anger into their songs, saying:"Turn on the news and you can get inspired to write a heavy rock song with plenty of rage, especially as a woman. It's just really hard, because I'm not political. I don't want this. This was put upon us all. How we react and respond to this moment has nothing to do with if we want to be a 'political voice'. I absolutely do not, but I do want to rise to the moment. We don't have a choice. We've been forced into this situation where if we don't speak up and fight back against tyranny, against human rights violations, against blowing people up, we're next.” Sanctuary is set to be released on June 5, 2026, through BMG Rights Management."Afterlife", the first song released from the album, was released on March 28, 2025 as part of the soundtrack of the adult animated series Devil May Cry.The album's second single, "Who Will You Follow", was released on April 10, 2026.The album will be promoted by a headlining world tour set to begin on June 11, 2026, in West Palm Beach, Florida.
