Bio:

"The world's a stage, we plug & play"! With a steady evolution from the band's first demos to its latest instalments, CRYSTAL TEARS have managed to leave their mark as one of the most qualitative heavy metal acts of Greece. Founded by drummer Chrisafis Tantanozis, even since the first years, CRYSTAL TEARS have proven to be a persistent, innovative & unstoppable force, having achieved the possession of good song-writing ability. Marrying melody & aggressiveness with an attitude at the same time, roots can be traced back to the good ol' heavy metal of the eighties up to the new metal patterns.Fall 2006 saw the release of the band's debut album, "Choirs Of Immortal" & it didn't took long until the band shared stages with the likes of W.A.S.P., RIOT & JAG PANZER, receiving an overwhelming applause by the worldwide metal underground scene. 2010 saw the release of their second album, "Generation X", also recruiting Ian Parry (ELEGY, ex-VENGEANCE etc.) in the ranks. A hybrid of melodic metal embraced by a modernised power metal sound, result of the production guidance by R. D. Liapakis (MYSTIC PROPHECY, DEVIL’S TRAIN, SUICIDAL ANGELS etc.). Having conquered quite a few poll places as one of the best power metal albums of the year, being airplayed almost in every metal radio station around the globe, "Generation X" brought the band on the road & initiated their first greek tour.No time to lose & after a final line-up upgrade welcoming vocal schizo Søren Adamsen (ex-ARTILLERY) in the gang, the band would start working on new material that would become their third full-length album. Having stepped it up a gear, CRYSTAL TEARS sound more brutal, heavy & melodic than ever in their latest instalment, "Hellmade". With producer R. D. Liapakis on the front once again, the band evolved in a metal riffing machine, stop at nothing. Metal riffs, shredding guitars, pounding rhythms & catchy melodies, for once more the guys have proven to be natural instinct fighters dedicated heart & soul, managing to sound constantly inspired, fresh & to reinvent themselves. CRYSTAL TEARS has always been unique. And as good ol' friend Ryan Roxie (ALICE COOPER band) says... "all is rock"! And the story continues...New album HELLMADE is out on the 28th March 2014 via MASSACRE RECORDS!!!

Album:

Normally, a Power or a Speed Metal band doesn’t get much of popularity in the scene. And CRYSTAL TEARS do belong to one of those category where none must have heard about that, even with 3 demos and 3 albums. This band is striving its best to get a better music. Personally, I am choosy about the quality of power metal and I felt this band was Modern Power Metal with their sound. The only best thing about this band is that the lyrics has a theme, it was never ending. Power vocals from the track 1 "Destination Zero" sounded a bit Persian/ Greece to me. And precisely, the band is from Greece. With epitome of the music, there was more disappointment. Especially the vocals need polishing here and there except for others, it wasn't sloppy at all. With incredible backing vocals and as an instrumental track, the whole band can be appreciated for its foremost blend of dedication and the passion of Power Metal implanted in the album. "Hellmade" album sounds pretty sharp and at the same time, it sounds like it's not my cup of tea kind of a thing. With sophistication of the album, there is amalgamation of growls and cleans in here and there for example track 2; The skies are bleeding. If the band notice that their album has incredible potential of pulling out the best Power Metal/Speed Metal, they would prefer to cut out the growl part. Because it really doesnt suit the tracks at all. The whole track sounded like it was a mix up. Giving a bad review for the band is more like throwing out a talent in the street. But the point is the album which was supposed to be their more or less first starting of the potential.Their best tracks are "Under Your Skin", "The Devil Inside" and "Rock N Growl". Technically speaking, the guitars as in the bass and rhythm sounds brilliant so as the drumming. Its surprising that the lyrics are too good to be sung out. It has themes of Life and Rock. For example track 10 talks about the rock. Track 2 "the skies are bleeding" and track 1 "Destionation Zero"; about Life.

Album:

We are thrilled to announce our worldwide signing with Sliptrick Records for the release of our fifth, brand-new album "Athanato" alongside two singles."Athanato" is a bold statement of power and melody, a new chapter in our evolution, a modern metal assault rooted in classic heavy traditions. Featuring among others the haunting vocals of Helena Josefsson (Roxette, Per Gessle, solo & more), a blistering guitar solo by Mike Wead (King Diamond/Mercyful Fate), the band enters a new era of sonic power and emotional depth, bringing together the best of both worlds: raw heavy metal energy and harmonic beauty. Mixed & mastered in London by renowned producer Matt Hyde (slip***t, Machine Head, Trivium, Kreator etc.) and the band delivers its most ambitious and cutting-edge production to date.“Working with Crystal Tears on their album has been such a great project for me to be part of. I was immediately struck by how professional the band are and from the outset they were very clear on their musical vision for how the record should sound which really helped me with the direction of the mix. Together I believe we have created something great that I hope gets this fantastic band the recognition they deserve.” Matt Hyde, London UK.The band introduces this new era with the release of two singles: “Bloodstorm”, a track defined by its sharpened sound and metal precision. And “Naked”, which dives into powerful emotional territory with intricate melodies and ethereal vocals. Both tracks will be available on major streaming platforms soon.“Athanato is our most intense and cinematic work yet. From the Greek word for 'immortal', it speaks to the fire that keeps us going, no matter what.” – Chrisafis, Alex, Kostas, Thessaloniki GR.Cover Artwork by: Nikos Markogiannakis.
