Polish glam/hard rock band called Nasty Crue was formed in Wroclaw in 2009 inspired by great ’80s bands such as Motley Crue, Poison, Alice Cooper, Skid Row and many 'new-wave' bands like Reckless Love, Crashdiet, and Steel Panther. After a few changes of line-up the band recorded its first professionally made single "Rockstar” in 2009 which turned the spotlight on Nasty also due to extraordinary image of the members . It was a big surprise that ‘80s glam is coming back in Poland – in such a good taste.The band set up the line-up: Mintay, J.J., Boogie, and Paulie were the core of the band for the next years. Together they decided to record the album which would revive glam metal in Poland. In the late 2013 Rock'N'Roll Nation album was published. It was the mix of fresh youth anthems and powerful guitar riffs and solos all in the spicy ‘80s package. The band made an effort to promote the album all around the world. It was very succesfull action and almost all of previously made copies were sold in many countries like: Germany, Japan, UK, USA, Sweden, France and Poland. What's even more important, the band recieved a lot of good feedback from album reviewers from the most significant rock magazines such as Classic Rock Magazine (UK), Teraz Rock (PL) and more. All reviewers were compliant – Rock'N'Roll Nation was a good piece of music. Some of them nominated Nasty Crue to become the best Polish glam/hard rock band nowadays. After the last line-up change, the role of the guitarist has been taken by Shuffle. In 2014 the band announced Rock 'N' Roll Nation tour which is the first Glam Metal Tour focused mainly on Central and Eastern Europe. After the tour the band is going to compose and record a new album in 2015 to show that the Rock’n’Roll Nation was not an accident but a prelude to something even bigger. The main goal of the band is to play at most important festivals all around the Europe (such as Tuska Open Air, Skogsrojet) and visit Los Angeles to keep the glam metal flame burning in the epicentre of Rock'N'Roll.

To be released tomorrow March 2, "Riots In Heaven" is the full length debut by NASTY CRUE, a Polish incarnation of the '80s L.A. Sunset Strip. Take a quick look at the band's image and unsurprisingly, indeed the 4-piece are a bastard child of ‘80s US scene.But while their debut ep was a pale glam-infused / sleaze collection of songs - hence, not featured here on the blog - the guys have evolved to a more hard rocking outfit driven by sharp riffs, still retaining a sleaze touch but much more melodic and consistent.From the start with 'Cabin in the Woods' and title track 'Riots in Heaven', the guys showcase a solid songwriting with echoes of LA Guns, Britny Fox, Motley Crue, etc, but adding, as happens on the former, some keyboards to turn things more melodious.The funnily titled 'What Happens on Backstage Stays on Backstage' rocks with an intense groove, 'Movie Star' delivers a welcomed broken riff providing darkness, then 'Crime Wave' has a modern hard feel furnishing even more variation.'Lynchburg Tennessee' is an arena anthem with some Warrant on it, 'Make Some Noise' has a highly melodic main line, on 'Friday Night Fever' Nasty Crue add a heavy-funk touch with bit of Extreme, whilst 'Johnny & Mary' come from the early Enuff Z'Nuff songwriting book.They end the record with an acoustic piece, 'Find My Way', not a ballad but another nice side from the Nasty Crue 2017.As you see above, "Riots In Heaven" is a varied debut album by Nasty Crue always revolving around the late '80s Hollywood sound. There's some really good tunes and solid songwriting, and while the 4-piece still need that 'extra punch' on crafting memorable choruses, the album is pretty enjoyable as a whole.Very promising band, worth giving it a try.
