Bio:
Founded in 2008, Godslave has developed into a professionally working band with seven studio albums and numerous other releases, firmly establishing itself in the German thrash metal scene. Musically, the band combines the hardness and speed of classic thrash with modern hooks and catchy melodies – a unique style that is equally impressive in the studio and live.In terms of content, the band focuses on positive messages without being moralistic. Instead of pointing fingers, they promote empowerment, self-reflection and a constructive view of the world. With their energetic live shows, Godslave has earned a reputation as a thrilling live band. In addition to countless shows in Germany, the band has already performed in Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Austria and even England. Their live motto is clear: "Anyone who comes to a Godslave show will leave with more energy than they came in with."The band is currently signed to the label Metalville and is producing their new album, which will be released in autumn 2026.
Album:
Naming a band’s seventh album *Godslave* isn’t exactly a decision made out of a lack of ideas for a title. It is a statement of autonomy, authenticity and maturity. After a career spanning more than fifteen years, six albums and a history that once came close to ending, the German band Godslave seem to have reached the point where they no longer need to search for a name for what they do. Five years on from *Positive Aggressive*, their return thus takes on a new dimension. And *Reset, Rebuild, Reclaim* could scarcely be more fitting to open it: three verbs, three stages, a manifesto condensed into a powerful, fast and concise track, where the thrash machinery does not prevent the guitars from introducing their melodic element right from the start. From there on, Godslave refuse to stand still. Thrash remains their home, but they are no longer bound to stay within its confines. As, indeed, they never were! And it is precisely when they step outside those walls that the guitars reveal just how far they can take the band. There is a melodic richness consistently present in the compositions, alongside clean, immersive solos capable of momentarily suspending the brutality. And there are torrents of technical prowess seeping through the rhythmic progressions. ‘The Road Not Taken’ may even give a nod to territories Metallica have already explored, but the guitar that remains in the background adds a second voice which gives it a different depth. ‘The Sum Of All Wounds’ confirms, in its instrumental version, that nothing here is left to chance. And ‘Repaid In Kind’, with its mysterious opening sample, strikes a particularly fine balance between groove, power, harmony and melody. There’s also speed – plenty of it – but also new directions: ‘Square One’ veers towards groove metal through more modern riffs, whilst ‘Let The Fire Come’ builds walls of sound with a death-metal flavour without sacrificing the harmonies of the two guitars. Finally, when ‘The Fire That Calls Me’ arrives – over seven minutes long, with an acoustic guitar opening and closing the track and guest vocalist Laura Guldemond delivering an outstanding performance – the album has already covered thrash, groove and death metal, whilst still finding room to flirt with power metal. And it becomes clear just how far Godslave are willing to take their identity, proving themselves a band confident enough to experiment and forge their own signature sound.
