Country : Italy
Audio : 320 kbps + all scans
Size : 107 mb

Bio:

Eregion were born in the spring of 2012 from an idea by Giorgio Colbacchini (rhythm guitars) whose intent was to create a metal cover band; he therefore recruited Gianluca De Lotto on lead guitars, Silvio Brusa on bass, Davide Ferraris on drums, Mauro Colbacchini as main vocalist and Barbara Borgo as backing vocalist. Soon after forming, however, the band felt the need to channel their creativity through composing their own original songs. The shared passion for Fantasy (which is also behind the band's name), for History and for Norse Mythology did the rest, making the group sound epic and very melodic. It is therefore in December of 2014 that LORD OF WAR, the first collection featuring nine of the most representative tracks that represent the trip undertaken together so far, finally sees the light.Subsequently Eregion bring their music on various stages also playing with bands of the caliber of Airborn and Drakkar. It is during this time that Barbara and, later, Davide decide to leave the group to embrace other projects. Andrea “Blackhawk” Muscarello joins the band behind the drums and with him continues the adventure sharing the stage with other renowned groups (Ancillotti, Paragon, Soundstorm). In the meantime, the desire to compose new songsdoes not end, with a more power metal imprint and without betraying the sounds of the debut album. For some of these songs the band feels the need to introduce some violin parts, so Letiziamaria Gatti is asked to join the band, and she accepts with enthusiasm dedicating herself also to the choirs. With this line-up, the band has just entered the studio to release his second album, which is scheduled in December 2019.

Album:

Second full-length album.I flirt around the various genres I like quite frequently, but I always work my way back to power metal, my first love, and still what gets my rocks off the most. It’s just the modern power metal landscape is a bit of a turn off for me, with every new band on the circuit trying to outdo each other with goofy cosplay posturing and trying their hardest to make this genre ironic, when it never was to begin with. For every wannabe Twilight Force, though, there are bands like Italy’s Eregion, who play this stuff straight from the heart, and actually understand where it comes from. Even if it doesn’t hit the mark for the duration, this still has an underground charm to it that gets the job done.Being a power metal band from Italy usually means relentless Labyrinth or Rhapsody worship, and Eregion are no different, going for the latter camp with an attempt at fusing sweeping symphonics, bombastic keys, and high-flying choruses that are proud, chest-beating things. They also chuck a ton of violin play in there, which made me think of early Elvenking more than a couple of times, but they don’t forget about the guitars, and they carry most of the weight here. That’s one of the surprising things about ‘Non Omnis Moriar’; it certainly has its origins in that classic Rhapsody/Thy Majestie brand of symphonic gorgonzola, but the riffs have a crunchy trad metal sensibility, and as a consequence you get quite a few back to back harmonies that brighten up the sound on tunes like the rather excellent ‘Battle To Carry On’. There are some choice cuts here, from volleying opener ‘Kingdom Of Heaven’ to the riffy ‘Rival Kings’, and while every track has a little lick that will prick your ears up, on the whole this is still highly derivative and predictable. How many times have we heard choruses like the one in ‘Blood Brothers’? I mean, it’s Underground Symphony 101. Also, when Eregion try for something more epic, like ‘Earendil The Mariner’, it just sounds aimless, cluttered as it is with unnecessary elements.Vocalist Dario Fontana does an okay job, possessing the typical Italiano power metal wail, and the production has a crisp, unpolished quality that sounds like something from 1998, so that’s cool. You’ve heard all this a million and one times before, and Eregion still need work, but it’s a listenable power metal album played with a lot of heart.

Line Up:
