Bio:

Robin Beck (born November 7, 1954 in Brooklyn, New York) is an American singer. She topped the singles chart in the United Kingdom in 1988, and Germany in 1989, with her single "First Time", which had come to the public's attention via its use in a Coca-Cola commercial. Other well-known songs of hers are "Save Up All Your Tears", "In My Heart to Stay", "Tears in the Rain" and "Close to You".Also, "First Time" was successfully covered or sampled many times, the most recent was made by Sunblock in 2006, peaking at number nine on the UK Singles Chart. Beck also performed it with German pop star Helene Fischer.

Album:

ROBIN BECK album ”Do You Miss Me”, his comeback return to the melodic rock field, an album created with the help of husband James Christian (House Of Lords) on Guitar, Keyboards and Backing Vocals. This is the pretty rare Japanese Edition including an exclusive bonus track. What you’ll find here is straight-ahead Melodic Rock, which is reminiscent, at times, of latter day Heart, but also the at the time (2005) the sound of the New Wave of Scandinavian Rock. With many of the songs co-written by talents such as Marc Jordan, Amy Sky, Desmond Child, Eric Bazilian, etc, you are sure to find very good melodies all over the album. The CD starts in strong fashion with the title track “Do You Miss Me.” This song has a strong, memorable, multi-tracked hookline that you’ll remember well after the album is over. Couple that with some nice, sharp lead guitar by Nick Savio (Renaissance), and you have one strong candidate for a radio hit back in 1989.This is definitely one of the album’s finest moments, along with the bouncy “Coming Back For More.” “Walk On The Moon” slow the tempo down a little, and this is where you really hear the Heart comparisons. There is one subtle difference though; this song and the entire album seem to have more of a guitar presence/edge then other similar releases in the same category. Almost every cut has a bona fide lead guitar solo, some slightly shorter then others, but still there, nonetheless.Other strong cuts are “What About Us,” “I Wanna Hear It From You,” and the Desmond child penned “The Safest Place (I Wanna Be Strong)”.Beck is vocally very solid and sexy all over the material, a pleasant melodic rock album with a timeless feeling.
