Bio:

E-Force was formed in Montreal, Canada in 2001 by vocalist/bassist, Eric Forrest, upon his departure from the legendary Canadian cyber metallers Voivod. In all Eric appeared on two studio masterpieces, "Negatron" and "Phobos"; on the live album, "Voivod Lives", and on the compilation: "Kronik". When leaving Voivod, Forrest chose to use his nickname, E-Force, as the name for his new band. Labeled monsters of Thrash, Eric Forrest's wide array of musical influences and vocal capabilities set E-Force apart from the pack and ensure that this band is very original. E-Force released their debut album "Evil Forces" to widespread critical acclaim in 2003. Soon after Forrest relocated to France, resulting in a line-up change. In 2008, E-Force released their follow-up, "Modified Poison. The album further expanded the intensity of the band, impressing both fans and critics alike. In 2014 the band released their third album "The Curse," on Mausoleum Records. "Curse" was a concept album based on a collection of songs describing the power and temptation of, and obsession with the female race. The album featured guest performances by Glen Drover (Megadeth, King Diamond), Kristina Niemann (Therion) and Vincent Agar (Yotangor). Throughout their 10-year history E-Force has released only three albums, albeit prominent ones, but nevertheless managed to perform in over 20 different countries since the band's inception, appearing at some of the most prominent festivals of the musical genre, both in Europe and North America. Now E-Force returns with "Demonikhol," lyrically another concept album with alcohol as the subject matter, illustrating the ravages and destruction of all kinds it is capable of causing. Musically E-Force has become an intense and shatteringly percussive killing machine, driven by battering ram guitars, supporting Eric's primal screaming vocal assault..+ featured guests preformances by Antonello Giliberto,Tomas Skorepa(exorcizphobia),Dan Baune(monument)Vincent Agar,Rob Urbinati(Sacrifice).

Album:

Canadian Thrash has always fascinated me right from the good old RAZOR to the modern 3 INCHES OF BLOOD, most bands are really catchy and good for old school connoisseurs, so driving on the same reputation are Canadian origins Thrashers E-FORECE, who have moved base to France, release their 4th full length album “Demonikhol” this June 19 with 2 full lengths in 2 consecutive years, you think the band is really forcing itself to bring new material out real quick.Into their 14th year almost, the sound with “Demonikhol” gives me mixed feelings even after multiple listening After a train-chugging sounding intro in “Apéro”, “Grievance” gives the listeners the first glance at the real sound of the band and frankly, though there are good groovy riffs and fast paced song structure filled with solos, it just sounds too mechanical and not music created by human beings (and no, that was not a compliment). The music itself is kind of monotonous throughout the album. The song structure is groovy and Eric Forrest has a Black Metal-ish vocals which actually works great with the music, that along with the polished production is that’s pretty much all that I’m impressed with this album. Quite frankly, after listening to the full record half a dozen times, I realize what E-FORCE has tried to do and almost achieve here, they bring in old school Death Metal guitar work and make it sound like Thrash Metal, with mild Black-Metal style growling vocals, and the end result is sadly not as good as you imagine. There is very little variety in the album except the odd melodic tempo building song in “The Day After” or the groovy title track “Demonikhol”. The album ends in a very reminiscent sound of the opening intro song, with 4 minutes of nothing but chugging train sound in “Last Call”.Brainchild of ex-VOIVOD vocalist, Eric Forest who has moved from Canada to France, this French based Thrash Metal band into 14th year surprisingly hasn’t lived up to my expectations with their 4th full length. Lyrically dealing with harms of alcoholic addiction, the music is impressive only in phases and is far too monotonous. Maybe the boys should just slow down a bit as this is their 2nd full length in 2 years, take time to write more riffs and may be re-invent themselves, and not end up in a mid-life crisis.
