Syrence is a five-piece heavy / hard rock band from Stuttgart and they release their debut with Freedom In Fire. The production was in the hands of Achim Kohler and Ralf Scheepers who took care of the production of the vocals. Nothing to complain about the sound, although it might have sounded a bit rougher and louder. The album opens energetically with Freedom In Fire. A nice up-tempo track with the necessary variety. When at the beginning of Living On The Run another great riff follows the expectation is growing. However, this song turns into an almost boring semi-ballad of six minutes. Unfortunately, this is a forewarning for the rest of the album that suffers with good intentions. Addicted is an example of a great song but has embarrassing lyrics. Symphony is a beautiful ballad with melodic guitar work but also takes a bit too long. And so, the album passes silently. Too bad, because the band can really play, and the potential is there.
