Indonesian Power Metal...new Indonesian speed/ power metal band from a city called Cirebon in West Java. Yep these guys are from my country. Formed in around 2015 under the name Sutexrock and then changed into Corvus Java. Taken from the Latin language, the word means The Raven from the land of Java. The band is a solid place of some pretty talented musicians. They've performed on stage in some local metal events such as Cirebon Metal Fest, Grage Rock, Hell Growl, Metal Box Night #2, Majalengka Distorsi, and Bekasi Power Fest.They have released their debut album on April 2017 entitled "Chapter One : Forbidden Gate" via Interlude Records. It features 10 tracks where the lyrics of the first five tracks are in Indonesian language and the other five are in English. Sounds interesting, fair enough to me. I can tell their music style is not far from our local legendary band Power Metal (yes this is the band's name!) as their influence in parallel with the European power metal style with sort of speed and the usage of keyboard to enrich the sound with symphonic elements and layers. Also a slightly twist of progressive touch on some songs nicely added to its musical approach.
Album:
1. The Blood of the Country: The feel of Stratovarius is so pronounced on this song, and also the riffs are a bit like Power Metal (Surabaya). Solo guitar is really steady and kick. The lyrics of this song are really deep and meaningful. Be United, We Are All The Same, Without Difference, Let's Go to Victory.
2. Greetings Three Fingers: This song is more thick feel of Power Metal (SBY), although the solo is a bit Neoclassical. Sound on this song Keyboard is really majestic.
3. Forget Everything: The composition of the music is light, but the guitar solo is really powerful.
4. Lust of the World: A simple song with lyrics nuanced Reality in this World. Where to hide there, elbow here is a common thing and do not care about each other.
5. Reaction Soul: This song is very short and very simple, and the lyrics tell about the Lust of Happiness.
6. Strange of Megatruth: A combination of Stratovarius and Helloween. Solo guitar is really powerful and beautiful.
7. Power of Legacy: The feel of Helloween is so felt on this song. Besides also the beginning of this song I think this song Tech Death, because lick-lick initially rada Technical.
8. Forbidden Gate: The music is light, but solo Guitar and solo Keyboard "Amazing"
9. Greatness of God: The greatness of god, his musical composition is somewhat similar to the Stratovarius Song entitled "Eagleheart" The Solonya is also steady.
10. Memories: This song is really syahdu. Initially I think the songs on this album will be Full Metal all, apparently I was wrong. CJ closes this album with a Slow and Syahdu track.
If you look at Cover Art this album people will think that this album Death Metal, but it is not. Cover Artnya really Cirebon abis, Liman Dragon Taxi, Kujang and Traditional Building Cirebon. The music was light, but his solo guitar and keyboard solo were "MANTAP !!!!!"Conclusion: If there is "Chapter One" I wait "Chapter Two"
