Bio:

Bloodred Hourglass, also known as BRHG, is a metal band from Mikkeli, Finland. The history of the project roots back to 2005, when the first self-made demo was scratched together. The first full length studio album 'Lifebound' was released in 2012 and three years later it was time for the second one: "Where the Oceans Burn" was out in October 2015. In January 2017 BRHG finished the recordings of their next album titled "Heal" that was released in October 2017, claiming #13 on the Finnish album chart.Bloodred Hourglass combines elements and influences from various different musical genres, main focus obviously being on metal. Fast drum patterns, thrashy riffage among big guitar walls, a lot of melodic atmosphere due to keyboards together with growling and screaming aggressive vocals are the main architects behind the sound of this five man band. Despite the variety of influences and different type of elements you can hear in our material, we feel our music is closest to be described as melodic death metal. Lyrical themes are focused on individuals experience of everyday life, as well as aspects of environmental issues.

Album:

„Melodic Death Metal from Finland“ should be already a recommendation. And yes, once again those dudes from Mikkeli prove the positive impression I gained from their live shows and the previous longplayer „Lifebound“. Heavy guitars on the spot, catchy tunes and choruses, addictive groove and a touch of melancholy. Or – as I tried to describe it before – Children Of Bodom meets Soilwork, Finnish top quality Melo-Death mixed with the Swedish style. The band’s third album „Heal“ offers Melo-Death offers ear candy from start to finish, and the latter is remarkable. The epic final track „Requiem of our last days“ sticks out, first because of about 11 min length, secondly because of those Prog elements mixed into it – a natural development of their style which is executed with ease. An album you can play non-stop all day and will still enjoy it afterwards. Therefore let’s hope that “Heal” puts Bloodred Hourglass finally among the big names in the scene, as they deserve it. Looking forward to their upcoming shows in Finland.
