2003, Elisa C.Martin and Willdric Lievin left the band Fairyland. For many years, Willdric, immediately met Yann Mouhad and they started composing for Hamka's first EP in 2005 : "Exodus". Ideas were flowing, and the band decided to follow on the same path by composing an entire album, which ultimately became "Unearth", a perfect mix of melodic metal, fantasy and ethnical instruments. In 2006, the album was completed and the band signed with King records in Japan.A few years have passed, filled with different projects, jobs and family matters, but 2016 sees the rebirth of HAMKA with the arrival of three new members : Sylvain Cohen and Arvi Kaint on guitar and JB Pol on drums. 2017, the band signed a deal with Fighter Records to release the new album “Multiversal” on December 14th. The album contains 14-song opus of top quality Symphonic Power metal with Ethnic Influences.

I remember the first time I heard vocalist Elisa C Martin in Dark Moor. Ever since then I have been aware of her work. So it is nice to once again hear her voice, this time on the second HAMKA album. I missed out on the first one. This is basically a French band with the added Spanish touch of Elisa. Musically this is symphonic power metal. Three small words that spark a massive fire in me. I love early Rhapsody and that whole scene. So it was no wonder that this album would speak volumes to me. It is hard for me to resist really well done power metal. And this is well done. You get everything that you can ask for in a power metal album. Two thumbs up.
