Oversense stands for an extraordinary sound of catchy melodies, fat guitar riffs, powerful drums and the power vocals of Frontmann Danny. Something for the headbanger, sometimes with a bombastic orchestra, as a classic power ballad or as a fast heavy metal number - the music of Oversense lives by variety and uniqueness. One thing is certain: It rocks! In 2012, Oversense was founded as a student project by Danny Meyer and Patrick Lippert. The first songs were recorded in the homestudio and mixed with producer Olaf Reitmeier at the Gatestudio in Wolfsburg and mastered. Soon it was clear: these songs must be on the stage. The missing band members were supplemented by friends and former fellow musicians and also through social networks. In 2013, Oversense then performed for the first time in full cast. As the first project these recordings were completed and published in self-government in May 2014. The band itself took care of the layout, design and pressing of the first EP "Dreamcatcher". At the beginning of 2015 Lisa Geiß (former member of the Symphonic Metal band "Arven") joined the band as a new bass player. The musical influences of Oversense include bands such as Edguy, Avantasia, Sonata Arctica, Iron Maiden, Metallica, Avenged Sevenfold and many more, resulting in a unique style that moves between melodic, power, symphonic metal and rock. The next step in the band's career, the release of a debut album, has already begun. The musicians are currently working on their fully professional debut album in close co-operation with Olaf Reitmeier and Miro Rodenberg from the Gatestudio Wolfsburg in order to present this as a finished product to the labels of the scene.

Well, today we are going to have a look at what The Storyteller has to offer, if the stories are any interesting and if they are told in an interesting manner. The graphical profile could be better, at least judging by how the cover and logo looks. But looks aren’t what we are judging here, it is the music the band called Oversense has to offer. This is their debut album, they have an EP from 2014 in their baggage and they have been to the Gate Studios to record. And it is a band that is compared with the likes of Edguy and Brainstorm, which is not a bad comparison. But what else can I write about this band?The music is power metal of the German School, I have already mentioned bands they can be compared with and there are several other bands that can be mentioned as well. Strong melodies, catchy choruses and pretty good vocals are things that can be written by any storyteller in order to describe this album. An album that has a strong modern production but perhaps not the most unique sound I have heard in a recent album. The variation is not enough to really keep me interesting for the entire storytelling session either, with 69 minutes you really need more dynamics to keep a listener’s mind focused on the story. I am not using the phrase “less is more” in my reviews as often as I did one period in time but it is still a relevant phrase that fits when describing many albums and it fits this album very well.It is a good effort with good songs and energy; I think it is a strong debut and that it is one that promises more for the future. I don’t really have anything to complain about when it comes to the penmanship of this storyteller, but they could have been somewhat less long-winded. I found that being either more dynamic or shorter would have helped this story, and a really strong hit song wouldn’t have hurt either. The songs are all good but none of them really stands out as a hit song and I really think that would have been very beneficial for this album. Nevertheless, it is a good debut and that is what these guys should bring with them for the future, that and the search for a more personal voice.In the end I think The Storyteller offer us a pretty strong listening experience, and they certainly offer a good debut album. Fans of the German styled power metal will certainly like this album, and if you are one of those you will be happy to spend some of your hard earned money on this album – good stuff.
