Bio:

DRAGONLAND first burst onto the scene in 2001 with their debut "The Battle of the Ivory Plains", quickly followed by 2002's "Holy War", setting their unique mark upon a re-emerging power metal genre. The core of the band's vision was to craft epic fantasy stories, influenced by movie soundtracks and classical music, as well as the great masters of mythology and fantasy literature.Later into the 2000's DRAGONLAND expanded their creative vistas by also dabbling into other fictional realms. For their renowned 2004 album “Starfall”, the band explored various themes, ranging from Egyptology, Vikings to the uncharted crevices of the human mind. The release was succeeded by “Astronomy” released in 2006: part science fiction concept album, and part an eclectic journey through different cosmological themes. With the 2011 release “Under the Grey Banner”, DRAGONLAND returned once more to their Tolkienesque roots with an all-out fantasy concept album, making complete the trilogy that is “The Dragonland Chronicles” saga.As foretold long ago by mumbling sages gazing upon constellations carved into the firmament: DRAGONLAND have returned, twenty years since their inception and ten years since their last album! Now, prepare your mind to speed through the heavens, where you shall in awe discover "The Power of the Nightstar!"

Album:

Melodic metal in perfection - that's how Dragonland sounds. The sixth album by the Swedes is released after an abstinence of more than ten years and will be the most versatile and epochal of their history so far. After more than ten years Dragonland delivers with "The Power Of The Nightstar", their best work so far. Powerful, epic melodic metal, which is lyrically accompanied by a cosmic concept - an album that can not be surpassed in versatility. "The Power Of The Nightstar" is a concept album about a species that has to find a new home in a hostile galaxy.

Album:

We are thrilled to announce that our new album PROPHECIES will be out on October 23rd via Scarlet Records! As an initial glimpse into this epic offering, the first single SURVIVAL OF MANKIND is now streaming on all platforms!“The vision for the album was to revisit and reimagine domains traversed by Dragonland in the past, as well as to explore new terrain. This album contains it all - epic fantasy stories, gripping ballads and blazingly fast power metal anthems, accompanied by a plethora of diverse lyrical themes” comments Elias Holmlid, composer and keyboardist. He continues: “Basically, we set no boundaries for ourselves thematically, and we wanted to reflect this in the cover artwork. Taking inspiration from ‘hit pack’ computer game compilations from the 1980s, we once again reached out to Pedro Sena, who also did the cover for ‘The Power of the Nightstar’. The result is the beautiful artwork that we now reveal, where each segment relates to a specific track on the album”.In July 2026, Dragonland announced the departure of longtime guitarist Olof Mörck who also serves as guitarist and keyboardist in Amaranthe and issued a statement: “a unanimous decision, and should not come as a surprise, as his immense success and hard work with Amaranthe leaves him with very little time available at his disposal.“Olof is an old and dear friend, and some of us go way back before Dragonland even started. We still remain the best of friends.“As a final contribution from Olof to the Dragonland universe, for the upcoming album, we have recorded a track written by him and Elias [Holmlid, keyboards] back in 2013. It is kind of a lost chapter and it felt truly special finally bringing it to life in the studio.
