Power / Heavy Metal made in cologne, germany.New album: THE TRUTH BEHIND.The vocals sounding sometimes very melodic like Iron Maiden, and sometimes very brutal like Testament. That gives the songs the wherewithal hardness and melody. Wolfen are not a thousandth copy of a powermetal band with childrenmelodies, hollywoodmetal swords and dragon things or metalcore screamos.WOLFEN are METAL.Wolfen toured or played with a lot of metalbands like: Annihilator, Kreator, In Flames, Hatesphere, Tankard, Perzonal War, Squealer and many many more. The strengths of wolfen are definitely their powerfull and professional liveshows.
Album:
Two years ago published the Wolfen founded in 1996 in Cologne with "Chapter IV," as it can announce the title states, their fourth studio album on our sublabel Pure Legend Records. With "Evilution" now follows in September another string, in which the quartet continues its chosen musical path consistently.Contemporary produced, classic power metal with occasional melodic thrash racks are offered at these ten brand new pieces at the highest level. Take part rough, some clean vocals on relaxed intoned twin-guitar leads, a fat, tight double bass is usually the pace. Here and spread the Rhinelander in some passages of the nearly hour-long work also officially grooving Bratgitarren one, but without neglecting the necessary bit of miss feeling and innovation.Wolfen offer a great argument that it is not a utopian idea to combine tradition and modernity credible!

Bio:
Also in the year 2018 we can count on the german metal-institution WOLFEN! And there are great news ...The line up is complete again. After drummer Holger Bloempott, as well as longtime guitarist Björn Grüne left the band for family and private reasons, now interim drummer Siegfried Grütz is a permanent member of the band who caused a sensation in the 80ies with Brainfever. In the post of second guitarist, the band has managed another absolute stroke of luck. Andreas Doetsch, who is already known as "Andy the Wicked" not only in the Rhineland scene and could prove his skills as a guitarist in various bands like Steelpreacher, was able to sign up.In 2014 - 2016, with more than 50 concerts (including a European tour with Grave Digger), the album "Evilution" was heavily infused, it was in 2017 a little quieter around the band. Only a few selected gigs were played, which of course was due to the training of the new band members. With the new members, the band shows 2018 in its most mature form!Listen to the new longplayer "Rise Of The Lycans" (released June / July 2018 / Pure Steel Records)! This album is number six in the band's career and includes all the typical WOLFEN trademarks and much more. The new disc is much more powerful than the previous albums. Here you can actually speak of melodic powermetal with Thrash influences. Furthermore, this time you have written a 4-song utopian concept story. The songs are packed with well-known vocals, the extremely powerful rhythm section and the sprawling guitar work, which has always been a big place in the sound of the band! After the "Comeback Album" "Chapter IV" and the successor "Evilution" gave the quintet a new impetus, also because of the outstanding response from the online press, a continuation was the only logical and correct way! The result is probably the current highlight in the creative phase and brings all the facets of the band to the point! The whole thing garnished with the fat production of Martin Buchwalter in the Gernhart Studios!Even at the risk that it sounds trite: The band sounds better than ever! All the more, all are full of fresh energy and hungry to start again from summer 2018 Live.
Album:
Well, there are bands in the world that like to lie upon old sonorities in Metal and Rock‘n’Roll. There’s no problem in doing that since you put your soul into what you’re doing. This is precisely what we find on the musical work of the German quintet WOLFEN. It’s very good, as their latest release “Rise of the Lycans” shows. They play an aggressive form of the well-known Heavy/Power Metal in the German way, in the same vein of bands like RUNNING WILD and GRAVE DIGGER, but with a more modernized. The choruses are really catchy and melodic, with all the bands musical instruments doing a great job (except for the aggressive voices they use sometimes, because they aren’t fitting on their music due these low tunes, as you’ll hear on “Rebirth of the Regulators”, but the clean ones are amazing). It’s an album to hear and shake your goddamn heads! On the sound quality, it’s really good, with a good choice for instrumental tunes that fits in their songs (although they deserve more), and creating a very good balance between the aggressiveness, the weight and sound clarity, enough to be heard and understood, but to have that essential punch that Metal bands must have. As a special guest, Chris Boltendahl (of course you all know that he is GRAVE DIGGER’s singer) appears on the vocals on “Timekeeper”, to give a different taste to “Rise of the Lycans”. The album has as its finest moments the excellent “Genetic Sleepers” with its contrast between silk melodies and some aggressiveness (and very good rhythmic work), the typical German Power Metal essence that can be heard on “Forgotten Dreams” (it bears a charming energy and very good guitar riffs), on the excellent musical arrangements that fills “Xenophobia” and “Science & Religion” (this one is inspiring, having an introspective atmosphere and, once more, very good guitars), on the accessible melodies that permeates “Timekeeper”, and fine vocals on “New World Order”.It’s a very good album, indeed, so we can say that “Rise of the Lycans” deserves to be heard for all Metal fans with good taste.
