International symphonic metal band based in Belgium founded in 2021.After Robert en Renate had ended their topsport(coaching) careers, Robert came up with the idea to do something in music. The combination of his electric guitarplay en Renate’s classical piano almost naturally lead to the choice for symphonic metal music. As a bandname they chose ‘Epinikion’, which means ‘hymne for the winner’. In Ancient Greece the heroic stories of athletes were sung in an epinikion after their victories at major events. A phoenix was added to the bandname, as a sign of athletes resurrected from their ashes as musicians.It was soon apparent that the music was received well and the toy keyboard of Renate’s son was exchanged for a real synthesizer. From the very beginning Epinikion combined heavy guitar riffs with subtle progressive metal influences, completed with harmonic and sometimes bombastic orchestral lines. This combination leads to an own sound, appreciated by a wide audience.
Eleonora Damiano - Vocals - Eleonora was born near Venice and she has been singing since she was a young child. She is not only a singer, but also vocal coach and music therapist in Italy. Although she has a classical education she is fond of metal music and she continues to specialize in different singing styles and techniques. She knows how to convert her great theoretical knowledge into an excellent performance of Epinikion songs, which are tailor-made for her.
Album:
After releasing 3 singles in 2021, we have been working non stop to complete the album. It is a rock opera that tells a story that takes place during the Eighty Years' War in Zealand, the Netherlands. The album is called 'Inquisition' and is set to be released on April 21st, 2022.The vocals for the album were recorded at Project Zero Studio, Belgium. Yarne Heylen did the mixing and mastering. The album cover is made by Beatrice Demori."Inquisition" features around 63 minutes of breathtaking symphonic metal.
