Bio:

Savage Grace was a power/speed metal band from Los Angeles, California, formed by Chris Logue and Brian East (nicknamed "The Beast", from the Pacific Northwest band Alleybrat), active between 1981 and 1993. They reformed in 2009, and subsequently released an EP entitled The Lost Grace. In 2010, they performed at the Up the Hammers, Bang Your Head!!! and Keep It True festivals.Their original name was Marquis de Sade, named after the French aristocrat of the same name who also lent his name to the word sadist. They would later change their name to Savage Grace after the great 70's rock band led by Ron Koss that were on Warner/Reprise Records. Their first demos were recorded with Ozzy Osbourne's guitarist Randy Rhoads' brother Kelle on vocals. Randy had suggested the name Savage Grace to Kelle.Metal Blade would select the song "Scepters of Deceit" from a 3 song demo for their 1982 Metal Massacre II compilation, with Dwight Cliff taking over vocals from Rhoads. The band's 1983 debut release, The Dominatress EP, was recorded with Logue on guitar, Brian "Beast" East on bass, Dan Finch on drums, John Birk on vocals and new guitarist Kenny Powell on guitar (who would soon leave to form his own band, Omen). The band's first full-length album, Master of Disguise, followed in 1985 and introduced yet another new vocalist, Mike Smith. The album's controversial cover depicts a police officer with red demon-like eyes keeping a topless girl cleave gagged and handcuffed to his motorcycle. The album was also recorded with only one guitar player, Chris Logue handled all guitar duties. During its release Grace were joined for a short period by Kurt Phillips of Canadian band Witchkiller and then Mark "Chase" Marshall. Later Mike Smith was fired and after touring Europe Dan Finch left the band. The sophomore album, 1986's After the fall from Grace, was recorded by Chris Logue on guitars and lead vocals, Brian East on bass, Mark "Chase" Marshall on guitar and Mark Marcum on drums. After another tour of Europe, Beast would leave the band. The group's final output, the Ride Into The Night EP, included a cover of the Deep Purple classic "Burn". It also featured new bass player Derek Peace, a member of Heir Apparent. The band was also featured on the Speed Metal Hell - Vol. 1 compilation album in 1985 with the songs "Master of Disguise" and "Fear my Way". Another song, "Mainline Lover", appeared on the 1993 compilation American Metal - Heavy 'N' Dirty. In 2010 Chris Logue reformed the band with musicians of the German band Roxxcalibur, and played a European tour in April and May in addition to festivals such as Keep It True and Bang Your Head!!!. The band split up in October 2010. The whole Savage Grace back catalog was re-released by the German label Limb Music and several live songs were set to be included on the Keep It True Festival 2010 DVD. A new album was planned after the tour, but Logue mysteriously disappeared during the songwriting sessions. The new line-up decided to bring in a new vocalist and released the already finished songs in late 2013 under the moniker of "Masters Of Disguise".

Album:

Master of Disguise is the first album by American speed metal band Savage Grace, released in 1985.Can you imagine the voice with Metal Church solos in Metallica's pace? So it was in the Rock Hard edition 11 from 1985! And even today, 25 years later, this saying has absolute privilege. SAVAGE GRACE, which had to contend with their career technical ups and downs constantly, are now even reformed again. It begins with the heyday of the band, the "Master of Disguise" album from 1985, a jewel of US Metals, a classic, and unfortunately also the first and at the same time last album with singer Mike Smith, who left the band just after the publication of the album , But hallmark of the troupe was already the ingenious guitar work of Christian Logue, who just realized ate in the studio in real Doppelläufigkeiten and thereby often ascended in IRON MAIDEN's heights. Especially on "Master of Disguise" suggested this MAIDEN Lastigkeit most notably through, mainly because Mike Smith's organ tended rather in the direction of the iron maidens, the biggest difference: SAVAGE GRACE were about twice as fast as MAIDEN and probably 1000 x less successful ,Not quite as big hit was the debut EP "The Dominatress". For that time, from cover her extremely provocative ("a young girl in straps and rivets" as wicked as well!) It was probably Jon Birk's rather thin body and long not so mature songwriting generic class of Logue, who now rather than the five songs let end classic.Although the bonus pieces may be relevant from the cult factor ago by the expressiveness they are not definitive and are also called SAVAGE GRACE justice in any way, just an early demo version of "Curse the Night" sounds badly slanted! All represented songs have been completely remastered and straight to "Master of Disguise" is likely to 80s for the friend / expert and estimator of Mid Metal hardly a way past conduct, not least because of Limb Music Re-Relases exemplary phenomenon SAVAGE GRACE lit and a perfect introduction offers , the band will honor but (according to the KIT XIII appareance) the 2010 BANG YOUR HEAD Festival with his presence.

Album:

Savage Grace have remained in the subconscious of metalheads more due to their album covers – which were really provocative considering the time they were released and the provocation seemed to be (and was) full of meaning, rather than their music. Unfortunately so. Everyone remembers the cop that had tied up the naked woman or Gene Hoglan (Dark Angel, Death) as an executor. When was the last time, however that you listened to one of “We Came, We Saw, We Conquered”, “Age Of Innocence”, or the title song, or when was the last time one of those was played at a metal bar? More epic (closer to heavy/power) than Agent Steel (they were sharing the guitarist Mark Marshall), with riffs full of speed, crazy solos and refrain (from the amazing Chris “more falsetto you die” Logue) that sticks within your mind. Melodic, without staying behind in terms of power, with the “cultmeter” reaching red every time any of the hymns (cause that’s what the album is full of) is played. The album was released in July 1986 by Black Dragon Records. The first side of the record with the 3 speed dynamites (“We Came, We Saw, We Conquered”, “After the Fall from Grace”, “Trial by Fire”) seems to be more demanding and containing the most known songs, which stand out, while the second side without being of less quality continues after the intro Palestinia playing in high speed (“Age Of Innocence”, “Destination Unknown”), however in more power forms, (“Flesh And Blood”) with “Tales of Mystery” even reminding us of Queensryche. For the history, I must mention that the band from Los Angeles started it’s career going by the name Marquis De Sade, which seems to be fitting with the style of the front cover of “After The Fall From Grace”.*In the first edition the title is carved up at the cover of the album.**Chris Logue was arrested in 2005 for fraud, since he presented himself as a doctor and claimed he could cure cancer of some sort, prostate probably.
