Bio:

Dragonsfire is a traditional heavy metal band from South-Hessian, Germany. With almost a decade of existence the group was originally formed on the 1st of January 2005 by the vocalist/bass-player Thassilo Herbert, the two guitarists Thorsten Brand and Matthias Bludau and the drummer Jan Muller. The cool thing about this band is that in the first year of their existence they played 20 shows without recording anything. Only after they decided to hit the studio and so their first EP entitled ‘Burning for Metal’ was born. In the meantime much has happened. Some members left the band and others joined to take their place. They recorded their first full-length album ‘Visions of Fire’ that was released in 2008. The next album was called ‘Metal Service’ released in 2010 and ‘Speed Demon’ their fourth record came out on 13th of April 2013. On the 21st of September 2014 Dragonsfire released their first vinyl-single called ‘Cider Victrims’ together with the befriended band Steelpreacher. In a traditional line-up with vocals, two guitars, bass and drums the quartet from South-Hesse plays "classic" heavy metal with pieces of True, Speed, Power and Melodic Metal. The press compared their style with bands like: Iced Earth, Grave Digger, Metallica, Iron Maiden and Manowar. You can hear and see that DRAGONSFIRE play their songs with a desire for quality and entertainment on many many gigs.

Album:

‘Metal X’ is the band 6th release. It’s an EP with six songs containing the true essence of heavy metal – Catchy riffs and tasty solos; roaring vocals and thunderous drumming. The song ‘Young & Wild’ is na autobiographic text by Jan. It deals with the heavy metal scene in the south of Hesse by the time of 1991 to 1998. The lyrics describe the changes and feelings of a special way of life. ‘Welcome to the Afterlife’ is a song that catches the atmosphere of the EP-Cover. I tis rather dark and mystic and describes the process of reaching ones life after death. If you want a tough and angry song try to listen to ‘Heretic’, a song that judges organized religion. ‘Steel Eel’ is my favorite song of this metal piece. It’s about a perverted Eel. The song was previously released in a shorter version on the Speed Demon EP. Now it is in full lenght. Again there are some guest musicians on it. Preacher from the band “Steelpreacher” is doing some vocals and Rolf Munkes is playing a short guitar solo, which is amazing by the way. Inspired by the story of a German soldier under heavy fire in Afghanistan the song ‘Man On A Mission’ portraits with perfection a desperate Situation. This song could be the perfect tribute to “Dragonforce” since it’s musically similar with the feroucious style of the band. Last but not least the song ‘Hell’ is about living well as lord of hell… Life is good!.The EP is everything one could expect from a German heavy metal band with almost ten years of existence and a huge repertoire of shows. With a work that ranges from powerful riffs to cool bass lines and catchy chorus the band delivers outstanding heavy metal for the lovers of the 90’s metal and metal lovers in general. From the beggining to the end ‘Metal X’ is the reflection of what the style should sound like – distorted, melodic, fast and strong – basically it should make you want to enter a mosh pit and punch and kick the air like crazy, and it really does! The production of the EP is awesome and I have no fault to point. Generally ‘Metal X’ is the best way to celebrate 10 years of metal, Apfelwein, fishing, gaming and xxx.

Album:

The heavy metallers from DRAGONSFIRE, who come from Hesse, have been doing their bit in the underground since 2005. After an EP, two full-fledged albums, which were released via Pure Steel Records, sees now with "Speed Demon" again an EP the light of day. Much has changed in comparison to its predecessors musically not.DRAGONSFIRE still play their Metal very real, very melodic and with the necessary wink. It's almost inevitable that something will fall by the wayside. In the case of the Riedstädter this is the innovation. New ways or strange stylistic potpourri can not be found on "Speed Demon". For the listener with the title track, the dust is knocked out of the coat. The two-part guitars are cutting, the drummer Jan Müller's play is accentuated and the catchy character of the number is high. Successful entry into this short, but intense slice. "Savior", "The Gunslinger's Fate" (accompanied by a beautiful guitar melody in the chorus) and "The Prophet" are in no way inferior and go as strong numbers, the live - if their catchy qualities - certainly make a lot of hitting the finish line. I do not really have to enumerate the role models of DRAGONSFIRE at this point. English, German and Scandinavian groups are the inspiration for the sound of the quartet. With "Allied Force" there is a fraternizing hymn for the fans and the "Steel Eel" is a short eruption, which represents a cooperation with the band IRON FATE. Very successful and varied plate to here. With "Ask For More" and the live add-on "The Warrior" there are two more songs at the end of the mini-album that do not hold the standard of the other tracks. The former just does not want to settle sensibly in the ear canal. "The Warrior" ignites me as well. Add to this the fact that vocalist Thassilo does not really hit the notes on the number and the song ripples rather than sawing into the brain. This darkens the positive overall impression a bit, since we are talking about an EP here, but the guys have the seven points in the bag. Anyone who has not known DRAGONSFIRE so far, does not care much about clichés and enjoys traditional metal should certainly give them a chance.

You can hear and see that DRAGONSFIRE play their songs with a desire for quality and entertainment on many many gigs.

Album:

Third full-length album.20 years after their founding and a whopping 15 years after the last studio album, Dragonfire report back impressively. With its new work "Rebirth Of The Beast", produced by Rolf Munkes (CREMATORY), the Hessian heavy metal institution proves that it has lost none of its force, passion and class - on the contrary: Dragonsfire are stronger than ever. Formed in 2005, the band made a name for themselves in the metal underground scene with the EP Burning For Metal as well as through joint performances with scene greats such as MYSTIC PROPHECY, CAGE and WIZARD. Their debut album Visions of Fire released in 2008 on Pure Steel Records - the starting signal for a moving band history full of ups and downs. Despite numerous cast changes and heavy setbacks - including the tragic, unexpected death of singer and bassist Torsten "Thassilo" Herbert - DRAGONSFIRE always remained combative. Today, guitarist Matthias Bludau is the last remaining founding member at the forefront of a newly formed band ready to carry on the legacy - loud, uncompromising and full of energy. Musically, the band remains true to themselves: no smooth-polished bombast, no cluttered keyboard walls - instead powerful, honest power metal that deliberately stands against the current trend. Rebirth Of The Beast is exactly what the title promises: the rebirth of an untamed beast who cannot be forced into the mainstream. For the 20th anniversary, Dragonsfire set a strong sign. Rebirth Of The Beast is more than just a new album - it's a statement!Although they got off to a promising start twenty years ago, Dragons Fire suffered a number of setbacks during their career – the worst of which was the death of their singer Torsten Herbert. Founding member Matthias Bludau had his hands full trying not to lose interest in his band completely. Fortunately, the guitarist and songwriter has staying power and can now – with a completely revamped line-up – present the first studio album in more than ten years. Fortunately, the change in lineup has had little effect on the band's musical direction: traditional power metal still reigns supreme, making no attempt to hide its English influences, but at the same time incorporating German elements. The eleven songs are tailored to frontman Dennis Ohler, who masters both the highest highs and the robust mid-range with passion and bravura. His four colleagues don't always make it easy for him, though, because REBIRTH OF THE BEAST mostly races through the landscape at a brisk gallop, with drummer Elias Bludau spinning his double bass drumsticks throughout and only giving the singer time to catch his breath once (“Don't Live In Fear”).
