From this, LIV SIN was born.

Album:

Many a metal fan’s heart broke at the end of 2015 when Sweden’s Sister Sin called it quits. The band’s music seemed to grow stronger with each successive album. Yet shortly after the final Rockstar Energy Mayhem Festival Tour, which also tragically ended that year, the quartet dissolved. Fortunately, vocalist Liv “Sin” Jagrell still raged with a passion to create metal, and the seeds of Liv Sin were planted. Over the next year, Liv put together a new band featuring drummer Per Bjelovuk, bassist Tommie Winther, and guitarists Patrick Ankermark and Chris Bertzell. She inked a deal with Despotz Records, and tapped former U.D.O. alums Fitty Weinhold and Stefan Kaufmann to produce her debut album, fittingly titled, Follow Me.Sister Sin fans will find much to love about Follow Me, from Liv’s distinctive growl to many of the more traditional metal elements on the record. However, Liv also takes the listener in new directions far removed from her Sister Sin roots. Liv Sin is heavier than its predecessor, and there is an infusion of modern, black, even industrial metal in the mix.The album’s debut single, “Let Me Out” harkens to Liv’s old school roots, but it also hints at what is to come. The anthemic chanted chorus is built for Sin, while the ominous verse vocals showcase a darker more malevolent side to Liv’s character.“The Fall” opens the record with a pulse-pounding, neck-snapper that recalls Painkiller era Judas Priest. The first glimpse of Liv Sin’s heavier direction. This segues seamlessly into the weighty groove of “Hypocrite.”The haunting “Black Souls” finds its foundations cemented in Black metal influences, yet there is plenty of melody at play here as well. This is followed by the gritty swagger of “Godless Utopia.”One of the album’s stand out tracks comes in the form of “Endless Roads,” a slower tempo, moodier song. It allows Liv to stretch out a bit vocally from the snarls and screaming vocals. She is able to tap into her more emotive side here, to great effect.Destruction’s Schmier joins Liv for the aggressive yet melodic single, “Killing Ourselves to Live.” Their two voices entwine with beautiful fury. In contrast, Jagrell tapped her friend Jyrki 69 of The 69 Eyes for her remake of “Immortal Sin;” A song pulled from Rob Halford’s post-Priest project, Fight. Jyrki’s gloomy low-end vocals juxtapose nicely against Liv’s raspy attack.A personal favorite on Follow Me is the trashy chugger, “I’m Your Sin.” It sinks its hook like an infectious earworm that won’t let go. This flows back to back with the lumbering grinder, “Emperor of Chaos,” with its roiling guitars and crushing rhythms. The album closes out with perhaps Liv’s most personal track, the poignant, “The Beast Inside.” It is arguably a testament to her perseverance and unrelenting will to rise up in the wake of adversity. Her former band ended, but the beast inside fed on her desire to triumph, and Follow Me is her victory call.Liv Sin is the next step for Liv Jagrell, and her debut album, Follow Me, is a finely crafted debut that makes a declarative statement: She is back and she’s not going away. Follow Me is cohesive, dynamic, and diverse, without straying too far from the Liv Sin fans have come to love; guitar-driven melodies with powerful and genuine vocals. Follow Me has a bit of all you could hope for from Liv, and provides every reason to follow her on this journey.

From this, LIV SIN was born.

Album:

Back in 2016 vocalist Liv Jagrell, known worldwide as the frontwoman for Sister Sin, let the music world know that she had formed a new band. LIV SIN, driven by massive guitar riffs and a heavy modern metal sound released their debut album “Follow Me” in 2017. Their second album, “Burning Sermons” was released in 2019. Both albums spawned multiple popular singles such as "Let me Out" and "Blood Moon Fever".Fast forward to 2023, after a two-year down period and revamped line-up, LIV SIN is now completely recharged and ready to hit the stages again. Not forgetting the record shops’ racks, with their new album, “KaliYuga”. “KaliYuga” referring to the fourth of the four “Yugas” in Hinduism, the era precisely dedicated to the present age, full of conflict and... sin. The theme of Kali Yuga was also reflected in the album’s writing process.“Since we produced this album ourselves, we definitely tried out a lot of new things, and I confess, I went a bit crazy with the vocals in certain parts”, Liv declares.Musically, “KaliYuga” is LIV SIN, on steroids! Jagrell explains how the creative process developed into an energetic and varied set of songs: “We took influences from everywhere, from newer metal acts such as Architects, Parkway Drive to vocal inspiration from King Diamond. I am ecstatic with the outcome”.With such an album in hands, LIV SIN could only pick a production team that would do justice to the songs. Simon Johansson (from Wolf and Memory Garden fame) and Mike Wead (King Diamond and Mercyful Fate axeman) were summoned to record the album, while the mix and mastering duties were delivered to console-wizard Tue Madsen (Witchery, The Haunted, At The Gates, etc). A winning team for a strong and cohesive album that will for sure kick off 2023 in a true heavy way.

From this, LIV SIN was born.

Album:

Female singer Liv Jagrell has always been a diehard. From her days with gritty melodic hard rockers SISTER SIN, through to her current solo status and role as one of heavy metal’s most passionate advocates, she has been a reassuring presence for the last decade. The albums released with her self-named solo band LIV SIN have been particularly different, heavier, as the Swedish powerhouse stayed true to the old-school values that have underscored most of her work, while also taking straight-ahead, melodic hard rock into unfamiliar, fervently modern territory.New LIV SIN album “Close Your Eyes” is even heavier with relentless lethal dark hooks, monstrous deathly guitar tones and some of the most vicious vocals Liv has ever delivered. Getting heavier by the minute, Liv is plainly not interested in the sepia-tinted, double-denim market. Like her spiritual forebear, Dee Snider, she has an urgent need to rock, but by the heaviest means possible. As result, “Close Your Eyes” is filled to the brim with herculean drops, impressive solos, heavy-modern guitar riffs and intense drumming. ‘Run’, a stand out off the record, is a head-banging tour de force that showcases the power that the band have locked up in their vault.Liv always had a voice that could scalp all-comers at a hundred paces, but with LIV SIN has become an absolute monster in recent years. “Close Your Eyes” begins with “Praise The Winners”, which seethes with righteous indignance and features the singer in a state of infernal fury. As has increasingly been the case, her band’s bedrock of muscular hard rock is now often closer to the punishing, pure metal of ARCH ENEMY than to anything from the ’80s, and their leader’s formidable roar has matured hugely as a result. She nails the hook with real venom on the breathlessly catchy “Run”, makes like a steroidal LIZZY BORDEN on horror tale “The Mask”, and delivers brutal defiance and a dash of adolescent petulance on “It’s Not Your Life”.At times, it is unashamedly direct: “Louder” and “I Refuse” are the kind of insolent, celebratory anthems that Liv was born to sing. In contrast, the closing “Hold It Together” is a lissome pop ballad with a big metal chorus that she nails to the wall with such furrowed-brow force that everybody within earshot is going to feel the splinters. The finest moment when LIV SIN embrace the old school with renewed alacrity, “Above The Line”, is a near-perfect metal song, with the bite and charm of JUDAS PRIEST, the skin-scouring pomp of W.A.S.P. and the deadly, melodic intelligence of IRON MAIDEN. It even takes a brief detour into doom territory, via an ugly, stuttering riff that blossoms into a textbook classic metal coda.“Close Your Eyes” is full of such moments, where the singer’s infectious enthusiasm is mirrored by the feverish invention of her bandmates, and everything falls neatly and loudly into place. LIV SIN continue to rock, heavier than most, and that voice will still knock you sideways.
