Bio:

Take out the old band shirts; put your faded skinny jeans into your white sneakers and get back on track! Get ready to meet metal-warriors, punks and progheads, ‘cause tonight Blackslash’s live on stage. Applauding, singing along to an epic chorus and draining tinned beer – that’s what it’s all about. When your old Sabbath-shirt is nothing more than a sweated rag, you know that Blackslash are the ones to save your hope for an 80’s revival of Heavy Metal of the glorious days. Though the young band from Donaueschingen, Black Forest, Germany, was founded in 2007, they play the music your parents used to listen to (and were told not to listen).Old-School-Heavy-Metal, that’s what the five guys around bass player Alec Trojan stand for. And by playing neckbreaking concerts they give evidence to that. At this a galloping bass reminds you on Iron Maiden; two-part guitars let you travel time into the golden era of Thin Lizzy, while the melodious singing of front man Clemens Haas takes control over your mind.A faithful and steadily growing fan crowd is astonished every concert by the ease Christian Haas is stroking the strings with, to push his amps to the limit supported by a second guitar Daniel Hölderle. Meanwhile David Hofmeier tortures his drums to end up in a climax of dynamic and speed. The fact that Blackslash is not about smooth-edged pop music is approved by their fans since the release of their “Blackslash EP” in 2011. The rough and edgy Heavy-Metal disc seemed to have the finger right on the pulse and touched the nerve of the bored lunatics and winos around the South of Germany. After just a few concerts the record was sold out and therefore Blackslash started planning their debut album that winter.By the release of “Separate But Equal” they succeeded in becoming the most charismatic rock act in their region and attracted the local’s press attention to themselves.

Album:

On 04. May 2018 the new album "Lightning Strikes Back" of the German heavy metal band BLACKSLASH will be released on CD.Blackslash was founded in Donaueschingen in the Black Forest in 2007 and makes music as her parents heard "back then"!Oldschool heavy metal, but the five guys around band founder and bassist Alec Trojan are enthusiastic, as they have proven in numerous performances. The galloping bassline reminds of Iron Maiden, two-part guitar solos inevitably evoke nostalgic memories of Thin Lizzy, while the melodic vocals of vocalist and frontman Clemens Haas complement the sound perfectly. The faithful and steadily growing fanbase is surprised at each concert again, with which dynamic and playful ease the fingers of his brother Christian throw themselves in the strings, with distortion and gain the boxes to their limit. The lead guitarist is assisted by Daniel Hölderle on the second guitar, while David Hofmeier gives everything on the drums to push ahead with speed and dynamism. That Blackslash have nothing to do with sterile pop music, they proved no later than the release of the "Blackslash EP" of 2011. The rough, unpolished metal disc was the first step in the new era of traditional heavy metal. Since then, the 5 guys have brought this feeling of life closer to the faithful supporters of Metal with each new release! Now the time has come, the second 'full length' will be released as CD and official download via Iron Shield Records!

Album:

Four years ago, one of my first reviews was for Blackslash’s “Lighting Strikes Again” album, which I awarded 7/10 at the time. Strange to realise that I’ve been doing reviews for this length of time. Time flies when you’re having fun.For those of you who have joined us since then, let me catch you up. Blackslash are a traditional metal band from Dormagen in Germany, formed in 2007. To date they have released two E.P.s “Blackslash” (2011) and “Stellar Master” (2015), as well as three full-length albums, “Separate But Equal” (2013), “Sinister Lightning” (2015) and the aforementioned “Lightning Strikes Again” (2018).So this then, is the fourth, full-length album by the band, which currently consists of Clemens Haas – vocals, Christian Haas – guitar, Daniel Hölderle – guitar, Alec Trojan – bass and David Hofmeier – drums.Things kick off with the rip-roaring “Queen Of The Night” and this is instantly followed by the equally fast paced “Midnight Fire”. Barely pausing for breath, “The Power” keeps things going, albeit at a slightly slower pace. The band are no slouches when it comes to the guitar solo either. Fans of 80’s metal will be lapping all of this up. In fact, Blackslash sound like they should be sharing the stage at a Monsters Of Rock festival at Donington Park with the likes of Dio, Whitesnake, Ozzy, Priest and Kiss. “Under The Spell” cements this feeling. The fifth song and title track “No Steel No Future” ups the pace; and not only should it cause serious neck injury to people who might dare to head bang along, but it’s also a great sing along song, which should go down well in the live arena. “Hammertime”, which thankfully has nothing to do with MC Hammer, keeps up a frantic pace and again, it’s one that crowds will be able to sing along with. “Gladiators Of Rock”, pays tribute to fallen musical heroes including Lemmy, Ronnie James Dio and Freddie Mercury.“One For The Road” slows things down a bit which is followed by “Bombers”, a war song, strangely enough, about bomber planes. The tenth and final song “Demons Of Life” is another fast paced number that a crowd will easily be able to sing along with. The production on this album is top notch and the musicianship on display here can’t be denied. All in all a very good album.
