With well over an hour of music, Darkness Rising is a concept CD based on the classic tale The Portrait of Dorian Grey. It tells the story of a young man named Derek Blackheart who sells his soul to the Dark Master to become the biggest heavy metal artist in the world. With his band Blackheart, he quickly rises up the charts, selling millions of records and playing to sold out arenas worldwide. After years of success and at the top of his game, Derek decides he can no longer do the bidding of the Dark Master and takes his own life. He learns that, even in death, there is no escaping the path he chose.With their own brand of symphonic power metal, ABSOLON has something to offer every die hard metal head. Lead vocalist Ken Pike has said, when asked about ABSOLON’s music, "I just write the kind of heavy metal that I like to hear as a fan of metal. I figure if I like it, metal heads out there will like it too."
