Pete ‘Thirsty Frank’ Wark, Glen ‘Chooka’ Fowler, Louis ‘Cobra Kai’ McKeown and Adam ‘Jabba’ Campano formed a band in early 2007 in order to take the piss out of Ad’s brother’s band Run!Hide!, the band was aptly named Wark!Cower! Recruiting Adam ‘Hoppa’ Coles and Chris ‘Fitzy’ Fitzpatrick to the line up the boys proceeded to play about the local scene causing mayhem at various local watering holes, birthday parties and club events. A lull in battle saw Fitzy leave and be replaced by Josh ‘Jab Daddy’ Brown and the boys started to write some serious (... well more serious) songs.After gather a bit of a cult following in 2008, they decided to record a 4 track EP “Fun wasn’t meant to be easy” followed by the Inner West Tour which they promoted with daring publicity stunts: one in King St Newtown; the other in Martin Place where they were filmed by Channel 7 and put on the six o’clock news. The publicity of the Martin Place story meant that they sold over 400 tickets to their headlining show at the Gaelic Club. The boys went back into the studio and recorded another 5 tracks and combined them with the first EP to form an album called “Veteran Veins”. After the Gaelic Club show Louis amicably resigned to travel overseas and was replaced by Luke ‘Douglas Drysdale’ Hegarty. The new album was launched to a 250 strong band of followers at the Annandale Hotel in January 2009. Shortly after, personal and musical differences saw Glen depart the band and be replaced by Nick ‘The Shredder’ Skelton.At this stage RTC decided to leave the past behind: abandoning all previous material and focusing on developing a new set of songs to reflect the changed vibe of the band. Early songs such as ‘Wrecking Ball’ and ‘(It ain’t all) Hookers and Blow’ contain elements of the old sound combined with the new.After a few warm up gigs the boys started supporting acts such as Front End Loader, The Fumes, Major Keg, Gun Street Girls (ex-Dallas Crane) and Porcelain. With new music being written everyday, it was hard to decide which songs to focus on. Eventually, with a solid 9 song repertoire they approached a local producer Jeff Cripps and with his guidance recorded a 4 track EP dubbed ‘Greatest Hits’ at A-Sharp studios. The EP was launched at the Annandale Hotel in January 2010, almost exactly a year after their last headline show. Over 100 copies of the EP were sold on the night (along with a variety of merchandise) and it is now on the shelves of many independent record stores.The momentum of the EP launch success gave the boys the motivation to polish off the songs they had been improvising at their live shows and go back into the studio to record a full length album. The drums and vocals were done in the studio, the rest was done in Shredder's home studio over the course of 2 years. Finally releasing the album to the public in July 2013 following tradition with a huge live show at the Annandale.RTC has braved numerous line up changes, dodged multiple conflicts of personality, been the centre piece for years of good fun and emerged proud as ever as a hard hitting in your face rock’n’roll outfit.
