Bio:
Tanzwut (German pronunciation: [ˈtantsvuːt]) is a German Neue Deutsche Härte and medieval metal band which originated as a sideproject of Corvus Corax-members. The band uses a medieval theme during their live performances which are expressed through their stagecraft, costumes and choreography.Their name is the German term for "dancing mania", but is directly translated with "dance-rage". Tanzwut are known for their heavy use of bagpipes, an unusual instrument for a metal band. The group has achieved international success, filling concert halls as far away from their home country as Mexico. The band's recent releases have been gravitating towards a more industrial metal approach, incorporating the use of more down-tuned guitars, harsher vocals and darker atmospheres. On Weiße Nächte though, Tanzwut completely removed its industrial sound for a more refined classical approach centered around bagpipes with a heavy metal sound. However some of the Industrial influence returned with "Höllenfahrt" and the band have written material in a more traditional style similar to that of Corvus Corax (Morus et Diabolus and Eselsmesse).
Album:
After the last longplayer "Weiße Nächte" (09/2011) and the purely medieval work "Morus et Diabolus" (07/2011), the formation around Teufel now presents "Höllenfahrt". A first glance shows: Something has changed again in the band's constellation. The constant is, was and will always be frontman Teufel, who not only dominates the band's stage shows, but is also responsible for songwriting and production. He finds strong support in Benjamin Schwenen, who was responsible not only for production and songwriting but also for the mix.The present 12 tracks play to all of Tanzwut's known strengths. A complexly woven sound carpet of typical rock instruments, medieval instruments and electronic beats and effects form the basic framework. The melodies are rich in variety, sometimes almost ballad-like, sometimes cheerfully fast and above all always danceable, and thanks to their richness of detail, they never get boring. The devil's voice takes over the part of the storyteller, lulling you with his voice and taking you deep into hell with his words in stories.Titles like "Die Ruhe vor dem Sturm" (The calm before the storm) catch the ear with a ballad-like intro and prove the diversity that Tanzwut has - earworm factor guaranteed. "Die letzten Tage" or "Zieh dich aus", on the other hand, already get into your feet with their intro and the speed that the songs build up, make you bounce along and belong to the danceable bangers of the silver disc.So it's not surprising that the new Tanzwut album also captures the dance leg in the old manner and at the same time puts you in a good mood. Their style is unmistakable, their music is indispensable in the scene and in the discotheques. "Höllenfahrt" continues a tradition and at the same time impresses with the necessary portion of variety.
