Bio:

Sinner are a German heavy metal band formed by vocalist and bassist Mat Sinner in 1982 (who later joined Primal Fear). They were part of the German heavy/speed/power metal scene. Their latest album, One Bullet Left, was released in 2011.Based in Stuttgart, Baden-Württemberg, Sinner released their first album, Wild'n'Evil in 1982. This album, along with the next two (Fast Decision and Danger Zone) were raw affairs, having little in common with the melodic metal they would later become known for. After many personnel changes (including drummer Edgar Patrik leaving to join Bonfire), the band saw the addition of Accept's Herman Frank on guitars and the release of Touch of Sin in 1985. Frank would leave before the next album, 1986's Comin' Out Fighting, with future U.D.O. guitarist Mathias Dieth replacing him.1987 saw the release of Dangerous Charm, a much more melodic album than previous efforts, but shortly after this the band took a break and wouldn't be heard of again for five years. In 1990 Mat Sinner released a solo album called Back to the Bullet on BMG with a completely new band. Three members of the Mat Sinner band reformed Sinner and released No More Alibis in 1992, an album far heavier than anything Sinner had released before. This renewed vigour coupled with songwriting that far exceeded the band's previous releases not only carried on but strengthened with Respect in 1994 and Bottom Line in 1995, the latter staying in the Japanese national charts for five weeks. Since the reformation the band's reputation had improved immensely, touring as support for bands such as Mr. Big and Savatage as well as headlining their own German tour and releasing a live album. Sinner were to reach even higher peaks though, releasing two hugely successful albums with Judgement Day in 1997 and The Nature of Evil in 1998 before touring Europe as support for rock giants Deep Purple. The Nature of Evil was the band's most successful album to date, reaching No. 63 in the German album charts. In 1998 Mat Sinner and Tom Naumann, who had been with Sinner since their reformation in 1992 formed Primal Fear with ex-Gamma Ray vocalist Ralf Scheepers. Mat Sinner has been involved as a driving force in both Sinner and Primal Fear to this day.

Mat Sinner (1987) - In 2000 the band saw its first line-up change in five years as several members left, including guitarist Tom Naumann while ex-Helloween and Gamma Ray's Uli Kusch filled in on drums for The End of Sanctuary. However, in 2003 the previous 1995–1999 line-up renewed itself and released There Will Be Execution before going quiet again for four years. In the past nine years the band had released six albums, each as good, if not better than the last, proving to be the band's most successful period. This success would continue, as after releasing two more albums with Primal Fear, an album with his pre-Sinner band Goddess Shiva and guesting on Tribuzy's debut album, Mat Sinner brought Sinner back to release Mask of Sanity in 2007. This album spawned two popular singles in "Diary of Evil" and "Black" and included a faithful rendition of Thin Lizzy's "Baby Please Don't Go".

Album:

Noise Records’ “Touch Of Sin” is considered by many as the most interesting and typical disc recorded, out of the early era of this band leaded by Mat Sinner (PRIMAL FEAR / VOODOO CIRCLE / ex-SHIVA), who is in his own way, one of the most iconic regarded figure in the Germanic Metal business panorama, as much as a musician, as a producer, as a Manager but also as an A&R for many artists and labels.“Touch Of Sin 2” is a compilation of re-recorded old SINNER songs, but the tracks “Don't Believe a Word”, “Blood On The Sand” and “Heat Of The City” are brand new titles, “Touch Of Sin” was originally recorded in 1985 with a short lived line up composed notably of ex-ACCEPT six strings gunslinger Herman Frank (VICTORY / MOON DOC / ex-ELOY) , this new revamped version starts with a wall of sound in the heavy riffage of “Born To Rock” one of the most familiar SINNER’s song as PRIMAL FEAR performed this track live , many times in the past, so the message is clear, this album starts in 'the pedal to the Metal' mode and with a firm intention of 'rocking our world big time' for a little more than 49 minutes. Some songs are taken from “Dangerous Charm” in 1987 as “Concrete Jungle” / ”Knife in My Heart ” or the title track from the ‘86 “Comin' Out Fighting ” along with the anthemic “Germany Rocks” (“…stamp your feet/bang your head…”) and “Lost in a Minute”, same for the ninth song “Danger Zone” out from the same eponymous vinyl platter in 1984, (then mastered with the famous Direct Metal Mastering … DMM : Did you remember?), that I always had a soft spot for.The track “Emerald” isn’t a THIN LIZZY's cover but “Don't Believe a Word” sure it is, even if it’s in a reworked version quite far from the style of the original song, however, the Phil Lynott’s influence is spread very much all over this album and strangely, I was surprised how SINNER's old songs and today’s SAXON are finally sounded quite similar, they are sharing some commune history and Germany’s is the second home for Biff & co, so perhaps, we could consider them, as cousin-German in Metal Family. The new songs are very much in the same style displayed all along this “Touch Of Sin 2”, and the same musical path which was walked by SINNER since the milestone “Mask Of Sanity”, which is confirmed by “Blood on the Sand” and “Heat of the City”, keeping a more nasty Rocking pace while leaving all the Heaviness and the wickedness flavors, once displayed in the amazing “The Nature Of Evil”, to the ‘side project’ fronted by Ralf Scheepers and called PRIMAL FEAR once and for all. The new line up built around a bunch of high-profile veterans in a perfectly effective shape, this is a full blown team that is backing Mat Sinner aka Mathias Lasch, with notably Andre Hilgers from RAGE and the devoted guitar players Alex Beyrodt (VOODOO CIRCLE / PRIMAL FEAR / ex-SIGNET / ex-SILENT FORCE) and Christof Leim (THE NEW BLACK) but also in order to complete the triple axe attack: the newbie Alex Scholpp (TARJA).This is not revolutionary by any way, but it’s a well-crafted and honest piece of melodic Heavy Metal with a strong dose of blood, sweat and beers Rocking attitude and maybe a new attempt to rehabilitate this unsung band of the 80s overshadowed by the more successful acts of that era such as THE SCORPIONS & ACCEPT or even BONFIRE…Not essential, but yet strongly enjoyable album to play on the your way back to home after an hard partying night spend in one of the numerous summer Metal-Fest.“It doesn't matter what you've done / In my words you are a sinner / For every word you say to me / In every way, you are a sinner” from “Burning Times” by ICED EARTH.
