After leaving FREEDOM CALL in the end of 2005 bassist Ilker Ersin started to build up his own band POWERWORLD.Ilker wrote every song, produced the demos and searched for the right musicians to complete the band. It was clear, that he would ask his long time friend Barish Kepic of ex-JADED HEART for the spot as guitarist. With joung vocalist Steffen Bruner, Nils Neumann ex-FREEDOM CALL on the keyboards and ex-AT VANCE Drummer Jürgen Lucas, the line up was found to record the songs. Drums were recorded by Sascha Gerstner of HELLOWEEN in his G-Tracks studios. Chris Lausmann (BONFIRE/JADED HEART/PINK CREAM 69/VOICES OF ROCK/CORNERSTONE etc.) did the rough mixes, Ilker finished the mixes of all songs and Achim Köhler (BRAINSTORM, PRIMAL FEAR, EDGUY, AVANTASIA etc.) did the mastering. The band signed a worldwide record deal with METAL HEAVEN/AOR HEAVEN. The release of the self titled debut of POWERWORLD was in March 2008.During the making of the second CD, vocalist and drummer departed ways with POWERWORLD.The rest of the band finished the work on the new CD as fast as possible to fulfill the contract with the record company. With drummer Simon Michael of SUBWAY TO SALLY they had found a man who was able to play the new songs in the studio in a few days. The band started the search for the right vocalist immediately after the drum-recordings. After a short time the ex-SARGANT FURY/THRESHOLD-frontman Andrew”Mac”McDermott was found, who brought the necessary self identity and musically maturity to finish the POWERWORLD package, giving the whole sound a more rocky and less mainstream metal sound than the debut.Shortly after that drummer Achim Keller of ex-VICTORY/PUMP joined the band as a full member.SPV / Steamhammer signed a worldwide deal with POWERWORLD in August 2010.The new album "Human Parasite" was released in Europe on October 22nd and in the USA/Canada on November 9th.The band played an European tour in early 2011, but singer Andrew McDermott was not able to sing the tour due to serious health problems and was replaced from German singer Michael Bormann. The tour turned into a big success for POWERWORLD. The band played every night in a crowded house as support of AXEL RUDI PELL.Michael Bormann had only six days to prepare himself and because the tour was imminent, he had no opportunity to rehearse with the band.The tour went extremely well, and Michael did one good job after another. Every evening he sang Mac's vocals as though they were his own, and rescued the tour for POWERWORLD.Subsequently POWERWORLD put all activities on hold to give Mac the time that he needed to make a good recovery.Ilker and Barish played on the tour with Michael Bormann Band during this time. Unfortunately, Mac did not recover from his illness, and has left the band by his own request.Now that we know that Michael is one of the best singers in Germany and have also gained a new friend, it was logical to ask him whether he could imagine a future with PW. Michael Bormann joined the band in June 2011. Andrew"Mac"McDermott died in August 2011. He succumbed to a kidney failure after being four days in coma. The world lost a gently, nice, honest and warm-hearted person. Shocked and lamed from the death of their singer, Barish Kepic, Nils Neumann and Achim Keller left the band. Ilker Ersin found with Marco Grasshoff on the Keyboards, Guido Gallus on the drums and Andreas Rippelmeier the right musicians to complete the band. Due of Michael Bormann's other studioactivities and his lack of time, the band start again searching for a singer. With David Reece was an international well known singer found who did the preproduction. Reece and Ersin did'nt find some common ground on which to base and Michael Bormann came back definitely!
