The band arose from the ashes of the power-prog band called HOLLOWEARTH, among whose members there were Fabiano Romagnoli and Cristian Antolini, the founders of the current band, now together with Filippo Palma,Emiliano Pacioni and Alfonso Corace, who have reached the band in these 10 years of the band’s activity. The power-prog core is actually its point of reference, although the use of clean vocals, apocalyptical sinths and blast beat.2003 is the year of the first demo titled “Evolution Plan.txt” and suddenly after a year in 2004 is the moment of the second self produced demo “Bio Ashes Halo”.After that the band got suddenly in touch with the greek label Burning Star Records to record the first full-length, and thus 2006 was the year of “HYDRODYNAMIC WAVE”.The debut album was very well welcomed by audience and the media, even though a strange fact: the most of those in the know used the slogan “band come out from nowhere” remarking the fact that the first deal and consequent debut album came without having never played live on stage! Really a mere studio band!HYDRODYNAMIC WAVE became the very best seller of the label and then a promotional tour in Greece occurred, where the band played four times, including the Metal Healing Festival in Xanthi, in which Lunarsea had the chance to share the stage with other great names of the European metal scene.Also remarkable the participation of Lunarsea at the 2007 Gods of Metal, after the band won the contest, which aim was to play there.Then the band realized their first official video for the song “Beside The Driver”.In 2008 the band began to work at the second album titled “ROUTE CODE SELECTOR”, released in 2009 thanks to the Italian label Punishment18records, that recruited the band after listening the first album.Then a second video was shot for the song “METAMORPHINE” and this time too this new band effort was well welcomed by the media.Thus the band decided to dedicate itself to live activity, after the realization of two demos and two full-lengths, during the first 6 years of life.Between 2009 and 2011 a very intense live activity occurred, counting almost 80 performing acts in different countries like Greece, Slovenia, Germany, Czech Republic, Hungary and off course Italy.Lunarsea shared the stage with great and famous band like Rage, Insomnium, Orphaned Land, Obscura, Darkane, Dark Tranquillity, Nargaroth, Ektomorf, Sinister, Leave’s Eyes, Aborted, Dark Funeral, Asphyx, Primal Fear, The Haunted, Septic Flesh, Firewind and so on, and could count on the collaboration with Kick Agency, Machada Promotion, Alkemist Fanatix and Nadir Rock to promote and organize their events.Very important to remember is the participation of Lunarsea to “Where Death Is Most Alive Tour”, when the band won the contest directly organized by Century Media to open the gigs of Bologna and Rome during the tour of Dark Tranquillity and Insomnium in October 2010.2010 saw the release of the first unofficial dvd of the band, shot in 2009 during the Nihil Extreme Festival of Milan.In 2012 the band came back to work on their third new studio album and renewed the collaboration with PUNISHMENT18RECORDS which acquired all rights of the first album and decided to reissue the first two albums, availing the collaboration ofEuropean distributors, and, for the very first time, American distributor thanks to Century Media, which catalogued both cds in its official store.[ Hydrodynamic Wave “Reissue of Lunarsea's acclaimed 2006 debut. LUNARSEA is a melodic Death Metal band from Italy. The band emerged from the ashes of the Progressive / Power Metal band called HOLLOWEARTH. Since the new emblem, LUNARSEA released a demo titled “Evolution Plan.txt” in 2003, a second demo “Bio Ashes Halo” a year later. In 2006, the debut “Hydrodynamic wave” was released, “Route Code Selector” saw light three years later. “Hundred Light Years” will come in as the band's third output, second via Punishment 18 Records."Ianus” was the first track that actually got to me, an unbelievable abyss of keys, apocalyptic climate, great drumming and explosive riffing, I enjoyed the intensified growling and clean vocal shining of the band's vocalist, Filippo Palma. While listening to this one, I noticed a bit of early Black Metal influence that signalled of CRADLE OF FILTH. “Pro Nebula Nova” is a fast paced kick ass outrage with melodic singing, composite chorus, masterful soloing along with several modern elements of energetic Death Metal. “As Seaweed”, another fast paced maniac, astounding keyboards' work and a hell of a guitar solo. “Next And Future” has a modern IN FLAMES vibe, near classic Swedish melodic Death Metal. “Sonic Deep Finder” is a catchy modern melodic Death Metal prowess, fine mixture of singing methods.“Phostumous”, the intro of the release, is a strong instrumental worth listening. “3 Pieces Of Mosaic” is the album's complex number, highly interesting song. “Aphelion Point” has an impressive violin solo along with the veil of the heavy rhythm guitars. “Palindrome Orbit” is another magical Death Metal number of penetrating melodies, a showcase of how to create the Swedish kind. “Ephemeris 1679”, a bit of a spacy name, is yet another true melodic combination of riffs, vocals and keyboards, worth of your time.LUNARSEA appeared to me like a dynamic group of musicians. The album's sound production is very clear, creating a fine listener. The material is diverse, full of emotions, melodies, aggression and ruthlessness. LUNARSEA issued well performed growling, screaming, melodic clean vocals, blast beat, synths alongside typical Progressive Power Metal riffing. The large part of the songs reminded me the music of IN FLAMES, AMON AMARTH, MUTINY WITHIN and DARK TRANQUILLITY. In general, LUNARSEA's music isn't as most of other bands of the same genre, a bit frositer than others. No doubt that melodic Death Metal fans would want to get to know these guys better after listening to this one.
