Bio:

Stitched Up Heart formed in Los Angeles in 2010. When the initial incarnation parted ways, lead singer Alecia "Mixi" Demner created a new band. In the beginning, the band's visual and sonic aesthetic was a little Tokio Hotel-meets-Paramore. This anime-goth-with-emo enunciation informed much of their 2012 self-released debut EP, Escape the Nightmare, which included "Dead Walkin'" and "Is This the Way to Get to Hell." Their second EP, Skeleton Key, followed two years later and ramped up their sound with heavier riffs and shredding screams, which featured prominently on singles "Grave" and "Frankenstein." The brutal evolution (more Evanescence meets In This Moment) carried into 2015 with the haunting single "Finally Free," which unveiled a new lineup (Decker on drums, Merritt and Dorian on guitars, and Randy on bass), a more cohesive sound, and a new look for the band. Their debut album for Another Century Records, Never Alone, was released in June 2016. ~ Neil Z. Yeung, Rovi..Stitched Up Heart have forged their path in sheer passion and earned their keep in physicality and volume. Both on the road and in the studio, front woman Mixi and the Los Angeles-based quintet face 2016 and their forthcoming Another Century debut with brazen confidence. "Finally Free" is the clarion call for the band's day of reckoning. Recorded by producer Mitch Marlow and captured on video by director Ron Underwood (also known as the high-flying front man for label mates, 9ELECTRIC), "Finally Free" delivers on the promise hinted at on their self-released EP, Skeleton Key. Stitched Up Heart's days of self-booked national van tours and Mixi being a Revolver "Hottest Chicks" mainstay was merely the beginning. Driven by a new level of sonic confidence and topped with the front woman's soaring vocal verve, it's the sound of a band unapologetically coming into its own.

Album:

Stitched Up Heart's "Escape the Nightmare" combines today's pop/punk/rock with yesterday's hair metal in the sense that guitar solos and punchy rock riffs complement the vocals of the dazzling Alecia Mixi Demner. Demner is one part Ashley Costello of New Years Day, one part Nina Diaz of Girl in a Coma and one part screaming eighties vocal goddess. The six song EP with tracks titled, "These Scars Will Let Me Breathe," "We're Alive" and "Change," is a fun collection of everything that is great in music. Each song is its own gem fused together by the band's synergy. Today's musical landscape forces bands to be pop stars or Avenged Sevenfold in a way a lot of bands are taking the independent road to get their music out. Stitched Up Heart is one of those bands that does things their own way.My favorite song is "Dead Walkin.'" It is the best example of how good Stitched Up Heart really is. Although the entire EP is rock solid, Demner's voice throughout this song works melodiously with the music. It's like a magic trick that can't be explained.Stitched Up Heart recently concluded a tour with Gemini Syndrome and Evolove. I chatted with Demner and what surprised me was that Stitched Up Heart had just gotten together (2010) as a band. Getting together and then instantly hitting the road on tour tells you how special this band is.Look for great things from Stitched Up Heart; hopefully a full-length album is in the works. In the song, "These Scars Will Let Me Breathe," Demner confesses that she wants to be "the girl of your dreams." It's safe to say Alecia Mixi Demner is the girl of everyone's dreams.

Album:

STITCHED UP HEART's debut full-length offering, "Never Alone", is available for streaming in its entirety using the SoundCloud widget below. The CD is set for a June 17 release via Another Century.STITCHED UP HEART singer Mixi Demner states: "When I formed this band, I was depressed and going through heartbreak."The name is supposed to give people strength and courage."We all go through things that make us think we can't go further, but, especially when times are bad, I want people to see that time will pass and it will get better."The hopeful lyrics on this record are on purpose."I've been living in the dark for too long. It's time to come into the light."You need to pick yourself up, because nobody is going to do that for you."There are some sick people out there, but there is beauty in everyone and you need to love yourself before you can stitch that heart back up."STITCHED UP HEART is described in a press release as "a band built around the strength that comes from realizing we are the only ones that control our lives, and focused on the hope that reminds us there is always light at the end of the darkest tunnel. It's something heavy and powerful, jarring the album's epic closing track 'I Can't Breathe' from a piano-paced ballad that would do Lady Gaga proud, to a metallic onslaught of drop-tuned guitars that is sure to see the band sharing a stage with the hardest of their hard rock peers. And it is something undeniable, Mixi's voice taking flight amidst anthems of self-awareness that bridge the unrelenting confidence of IN THIS MOMENT's Maria Brink and the soulful transcendence of Adele."

Album:

You have seen them on tour with everyone from In This Moment to Pop Evil, and now Stitched Up Heart are ready to present their second full-length, Darkness, on Friday, March 13, 2020 via Another Century Records.Stitched Up Heart have been building quite the name for themselves, touring relentlessly and sharing stages with some of the best and brightest. Formed in Los Angeles in 2010, the quartet has seen more than their fair share of line-up changes over the years, but that has hardly slowed them down. The release of three EPs led to their 2016 full-length debut, Never Alone, which charted at #4 on Billboard’s Heatseekers chart, #7 on Billboard’s Hard Rock Albums chart, #14 on the Billboard Independent Albums chart, and #23 on Billboard’s Top Albums chart.Ready to raise the middle finger to the idea of a sophomore curse, Stitched Up Heart—Alecia “Mixi” Demner, Guitarist Merritt Goodwin, Bassist Randy Mathias, and Drummer James Decker—are set to drop their second full-length, Darkness. Produced by From First To Last’s Matt Good (Asking Alexandria, Hollywood Undead), the 11-song album takes plenty of chances as it rocks hard, weaves undeniably infectious choruses, and highlights Demner’s exceptional vocal range.Darkness opens to “Lost,” a brutal thrum that provides the anchor for Demner’s soaring vocals. The end result is a superbly catchy hard rocker that has a guest feature from Godsmack’s Sully Erna and is apt to deliver the band a bevy of new fans. Then the bass explodes on “This Skin” as the quartet takes a sultry approach to overcoming their insecurities. At this point, the collection opts to broaden the quartet’s horizons, meandering through a multitude of genres that are (almost) always anchored in their Rock-n-Roll based sound. In fact, many of the tracks are admittedly quite radio-friendly and polished. There’s the midtempo “Dead Roses,” rocker “Straitjacket” flails its hair wildly, and they bring in some fun electronics to spice up the funky “Warrior.” While “Dirty Secrets” fits this commercial billing, it provides some surprising, experimental moments that take it to the next level. Similarly, album namesake “Darkness” plays with time signatures and atmospheric synths to craft a bold, sonic experience that works as a bridge between the two halves of Stitched Up Heart. There are songs that blend the band’s signature, gritty hard rock style with heady synths and, at times, dip defiantly into straight EDM. Such is the case with “Crooked Halo,” which blends Pop vocals with a sultry beat. Atmospheric synths provide the backbone for “Problems,” a wall of melodic sound that seeks to defeat all that troubles us. Meanwhile, starting soft, “Bones” tip-toes across the ears like a poetic daydream, slowly building to a passionate denouement. In the end, they choose to wrap the collection with a track that sits somewhere in between everything that came before. The maliciously infectious “My Demon” combines those EDM flourishes that we heard on earlier tracks, cranks up the band’s guitars, and crafts a wonderfully amalgamated offering that serves as an impressive grand finale. If this is what Stitched Up Heart are all about, sign us up!Stitched Up Heart’s sound is undeniably infectious, easily digestible, and tailor-made for radio. Some listeners are apt to fault them for this fact, but Mixi and her cohorts certainly have enough grit to set them apart from the recycled, overly-processed masses. Case in point, Darkness sees the band entirely evading an easy categorization, as just when you think you have a track all figured out, they take a chance and turn the entire creation on its head. Sure, there’s an undeniable Pop sensibility to Stitched Up Heart’s sing-along choruses, but they complement this with heavy guitar riffs, explosive bass and percussion, and Demner’s phenomenal vocals.

Album:

Perfect!A unique metalcore release. Great melodic metalcore/alt metal musicianship, topped with Mixi's raspy yet jazzy clean vocals and rough growls/screams."Your Demise" seems to be about a friend or loved one wasting themselves away due to a drug addiction. "Grave" more or less expresses anger and disappointment over a failed relationship with a cheating partner. "Frankenstein" is a personal favorite song of mine. Will definitely be looking forward to more music from this band.
