Bio:

Faith No More is an American rock band from San Francisco, California, formed in 1981. The band was originally named Faith No Man.Billy Gould, Roddy Bottum and Mike Bordin are the longest remaining members of the band, having been involved with Faith No More since its inception. The band underwent several lineup changes early in their career, along with some major changes later on. After releasing six albums, Faith No More officially announced their breakup on April 20, 1998. They have since reunited, embarking on The Second Coming Tour from 2009-2012.On September 2, 2014, bassist Bill Gould announced that Faith No More has been working on a new album, which is set for release in April, 2015. The latest version of Faith No More to perform consisted of Mike Bordin, Roddy Bottum, Billy Gould, Jon Hudson, and Mike Patton.

Album:

The Real Thing is the third studio album by the American rock band Faith No More. It was first released through Slash Records on June 20, 1989. It was the first major release by the band not to feature vocalist Chuck Mosley. Instead, the album featured Mike Patton from the experimental/funk band Mr. Bungle. On this album, Faith No More continued to advance their sound range, combining thrash metal, funk, hip hop, progressive metal, synthpop, carousel music and hard rock, along with what has been described as "a black sense of humor".On March 2, 2015 a deluxe edition containing previous unreleased tracks was released via Rhino Records/Warner.Faith No More underwent several line-up changes before releasing their first album, We Care a Lot, released in 1985 and distributed through San Francisco-based label Mordam Records. On the original vinyl release, the band is credited as "Faith. No More" on the album's liner notes, back cover, and on the record itself. Within a year the band signed up with Slash Records. The debut album's title track "We Care a Lot" was later rerecorded, for their follow-up album Introduce Yourself in 1987, and released as their first single. Membership remained stable until vocalist Chuck Mosley was replaced by Mike Patton in 1988.The writing for the majority of the music for The Real Thing took place after the tour for Introduce Yourself. A demo version of "The Morning After", under the moniker "New Improved Song", with alternate lyrics written and sung by Chuck Mosley was released on the Sounds·Waves 2 extended play with the Sounds magazine. "Surprise! You're Dead!" was composed by Jim Martin in the 1970s, while he was guitarist for Agents of Misfortune who also featured Cliff Burton in the line up.The recording of the song took place in December 1988 following Chuck Mosley's removal from the band and was completed prior to the hiring of Mike Patton, who then wrote all the lyrics for the songs and recorded them the following month over the music. The recording sessions also yielded several songs that did not appear on the album. Two of them, "The Grade" and "The Cowboy Song", later appeared on the singles and on the UK edition of Live at the Brixton Academy.A third song, "Sweet Emotion", was later rerecorded with different lyrics as "The Perfect Crime" for the soundtrack to the film that also starred a cameo appearance from guitarist Jim Martin, Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey. The original version was released on Flexible Fiend 3 with Kerrang! magazine issue 258 and, more recently The Very Best Definitive Ultimate Greatest Hits Collection, the greatest hits compilation released to coincide with the band's reunion tour. Faith No More 2CD Deluxe Editions, Packed With Rarities! As Faith No More prepares to unleash its first new album in nearly 20 years, Rhino Records celebrates the back-to-back classic albums that helped establish the band's vital and visceral musical legacy with Deluxe Editions of 'The Real Thing' and 'Angel Dust.'Each two-disc set includes the original release accompanied by a second disc filled with rarities related to the album.Like all bands who transcended their time to become cornerstones of an era, Faith No More sounded like nobody else. The group's commercial breakthrough came in 1989 with the release of 'The Real Thing.' It was the band's third album, but the first to feature the line-up of Mike Bordin (drums), Roddy Bottum (keyboards), Bill Gould (bass), Jim Martin (guitars), and Mike Patton (vocals). The album was incredibly diverse, yet every song was linked by the band's own developing style. It peaked at #11 on the charts and was certified platinum, spawning the singles, "From Out Of Nowhere" and "Falling To Pieces," as well as "Epic," which was ubiquitous on radio and MTV.The bonus disc puts a different spin on many of the album tracks with remixed versions of "Epic" and "Falling To Pieces," as well as live performances of "Surprise You're Dead," "Underwater Love" and the Black Sabbath classic "War Pigs." The disc also includes the b-sides "Cowboy Song" and "The Grade."

Album:

King for a Day... Fool for a Lifetime is the fifth studio album by San Francisco-based band Faith No More, released on March 28, 1995 by Slash and Reprise Records. It was their first album recorded without longtime guitarist Jim Martin. The album showcased a greater variety than the band's usual heavy metal leanings, with Rolling Stone calling the result a "genre shuffle".The album spawned three singles—"Digging the Grave", "Ricochet" and "Evidence".Following Martin's departure, Trey Spruance was brought on to perform on the album, having also been in Mr. Bungle with singer Mike Patton. Production of the album was further marred by the band suffering a car accident, and by the absence of keyboard player Roddy Bottum, who was affected by the deaths of both his father and Kurt Cobain, whose wife was his close friend. Spruance was replaced on the supporting tour by the band's former roadie Dean Menta. However, Spruance played live with Faith No More for the first time in November 2011, playing the entire album during a show in Chile.Critical reception to the album has been mixed, with its varied genres being cited as a detraction by several reviewers. The album earned the band two Bay Area Music award nominations. The album's first two singles showed more of the typical heavy metal style while "Evidence" was a departure from the band's typical sound, incorporating jazz and funk elements.

The latest version of Faith No More to perform consisted of Mike Bordin, Roddy Bottum, Billy Gould, Jon Hudson, and Mike Patton.

Album:

FAITH NO MORE - perhaps one of the most influential Rock bands from the last 25 years - returned some days ago with their first album in 18 years, but they’re also set to look back at their classic catalog. The band have announced a pair of Deluxe reissues for their two first landmark albums: 1989’s 'The Real Thing' and its 1992 followup 'Angel Dust'.Each reissue has been remastered and is being presented as double-CD and double LP. Both feature a bonus disc full of B-sides, rarities, and live recordings. Now it's time to revisit "Angel Dust Deluxe Edition", their finest hour. The bonus disc with 'Angel Dust', the last record made by Faith No More with guitarist Jim Martin, comes packaged with a new mix of the killer “Midlife Crisis” by the band’s longtime produce Mike Wallace, plus covers of Dead Kennedys’ “Let’s Lynch The Landlord” (B-side) and the rare Cooler Version of the Commodores’ “Easy”, the band's unexpected hit. There's as well the much sought after -R-Evolution 23 (Full Moon) Mix- of “A Small Victory” syncopated and 'on acid'.The live tracks are of much interest as well, because there was not official releases of 'Angel Dust' live performances before. The sound quality of these is dissimilar and not always perfect, but these takes are gold for the fans. Then I enjoyed "Angel Dust" remastered as an infant with a bag of full of candy. This is a Masterpiece, from start to finish. This album was a crack, influenced lots of bands, and still is relevant today. At the time of its release "Angel Dust" confused just about everybody including long-time Faith No More fans to the music press and their rather shocked record label who were expecting 'The Real Thing' part 2 and another hit along the lines of Epic.Instead gone was the funk metal to be replaced by a much more aggressive sound and add to that the fact that Mike Patton had also dropped the whole nasal voice singing to differentiate between Faith No More and his other band at the time, Mr Bungle.Probably the biggest influence was that it was the first album that Mike Patton would have a big input on; as most of "The Real Thing" was written before he replaced Chuck Mosley as lead singer. And the songs... all are a blast.Innovative, crazy, metallic at a moment and crooning at the other. There's angst, hard to digest lyrics too - you need to read between the lines, even with the album's title - and a big middle finger to the establishment. The opening track, "Land Of Sunshine" is as uplifting as it is dark. It's the kind of song that you could picture a few thousand youths jumping up and down to in time with its distinctive bass riff. Evil track. The rest of the album, from "Crack Hitler", the genius of "Caffeine" and "Kindergarten" to the single "MidLife Crisis" (the only commercial moment) combines similar elements. A touch eerie and unsettling in places, but still capable of inspiring the listener to want to move.I still remember the first time I listened the CD being disorientated by the screams in "Malpractice" or the martial grooves of "Jizzlobber". Then after 10 spins or so I understand what these guys were doing, and fall in love with "Angel Dust".I am a melodic hard rock fan mostly, but this craziness of an album is simply brilliant. As the thrash scene was imploding on itself and grunge was catching on quick, this album was part of neither of those movements. It sounded like Faith No More and nobody else. It was to ensure that the band never fulfilled its stadium potential, but also that they have produced an album that was at the cutting edge of their genre, without falling into a genre. And that takes some doing.Yes people, "Angel Dust" is a Rock Masterpiece, and it's a mandatory CD in your collection.
