Bio:
Formed in Turku, Finland, in 2003, Oddland has spent over two decades developing a distinct, forward-thinking approach to progressive metal. A series of early demos and EPs led to Oddland winning a competition hosted by Century Media Records in 2011. The resulting record deal paved the way for their 2012 debut album, The Treachery of Senses. The release generated significant interest within the progressive metal community. Following the debut, the band took to the road for European festival appearances and support slots alongside established acts like Leprous, Pain of Salvation, and Soen.In 2016, Oddland released their sophomore album, Origin, which introduced a heavier, lower-tuned direction that leaned into djent soundscapes. The writing process was notoriously demanding, pushing the band's internal dynamics to its limits. However, the record ultimately solidified their international footprint, leading to back-to-back European tours in 2017 and 2018.Their third album, Vermilion (2022), marked a turning point. The band completely overhauled their writing and production methods, moving past old creative friction to establish a more collaborative workflow. According to the band, Vermilion represents the first time the finished audio perfectly aligns with their original artistic intent.Oddland continues to refine their signature blend of intricate, dark, and heavy music, with a new album to be released by Frontiers Music in fall 2026.
Album:
Oddland return with their highly anticipated new album "Unilluminate To Illuminate", reaffirming their status as one of the most innovative and engaging forces in modern progressive metal. Known for their complex compositions and intrepid approach to songwriting, the band continues to push boundaries while refining their already distinctive sonic identity. The experiences the band gained as the lead of Soen on tour clearly lifted them to an even higher level, sharpened their stage presence and strengthened their sense of dynamism and impact. This growth is fully reflected in this new album that looks more focused, confident and mature than ever. This new album expands Oddland's complex musical universe with heightened intensity, atmospheric depth, and razor-sharp precision. Seamlessly alternating between devastating hardness and cinematic expanses, Unilluminate To Illuminate presents a band at the peak of their creative powers, delivering a listening experience that is both technically impressive and emotionally captivating. With a bold sense of dynamism and a strong conceptual underlying current, the album captures the essence of a band that refuses to stand still. Each track reveals new levels on repeated listening, combining progressive complexity with memorable themes and a powerful sense of direction.
