Bio:

Melodic Hard Rock/AOR band from Rösrath, Germany.Made one album in 1987 "Baghdad".The band was part of the late 80s melodic rock scene in Germany.Baghdad musical focus was to create catchy, radio friendly tunes with sing-along choruses. Mixing melodic hard rock with AOR, and rock&pop pulse, over the years their debut 1987 album “Baghdad” become a sought after piece for fans of these genres.Produced with an extremely pristine sound and mix, the songs are pretty keyboard-driven in the vein of Scandinavian bands at the time – think a mix of ZINATRA, early FATE, DOMINOE, CRAAFT, GUARDIAN ANGELS, etc, however there’s place for electric guitar.Despite specialized sites listing this album as the group’s only release, they have other LP from 1989. But they changed the band’s name to THE BEST MEN, to avoid a possible political association.

Hailing from Rösrath, Germany, formed in the mid-Eighties, BAGHDAD musical focus was to create catchy, radio friendly tunes with sing-along choruses. Mixing melodic hard rock with AOR, and rock&pop pulse, over the years their debut 1987 album “Baghdad” become a sought after piece for fans of these genres.Produced with an extremely pristine sound and mix, the songs are pretty keyboard-driven in the vein of Scandinavian bands at the time – think a mix of ZINATRA, early FATE, DOMINOE, CRAAFT, GUARDIAN ANGELS, etc, however there’s place for electric guitar.Songs like midtempo ‘Don’t Take The Night Train’, ‘Dancing On The Moon’, ‘Gambler’, ‘Nothing Lasts Forever’, the more rocking ‘Salome’, ‘Marakesh Express’, are sure to please ’80s fans.BAGHDAD creates lots of harmonies too with multi-part vocal arrangements, adding variation using horns in on track, and actual strings (violins) on other cut.Despite specialized sites listing this album as the group’s only release, they have other LP from 1989. But they changed the band’s name to THE BEST MEN, to avoid a possible political association. As said, if you like any of the bands mentioned above, “Baghdad” is a no-brainer.
