Bio:

Melodic Hard Rock/Melodic Heavy Metal band from Horb am Neckar, Baden-Württemberg in Germany formed in 1982.Originally gone by a different name (which is unknown) for a while after forming in '82.Jürgen Volk founded a band called Raw while he was still in Glenmore. After Glenmore got disbanded, he changed the name to Rawhead Rexx and released a self-titled album in 2001.The band, founded by Jürgen Volk (vocals), Wolfgang Heuchert (guitars), and Dietrich Vogt (drums), has released only two albums. While their 1993 debut, *Materialized*, features some great individual tracks, the album *For The Sake Of The Truth*, released a year later, is the stronger overall effort. In the mid-1990s, however, this kind of music wasn’t exactly a hit, and so the band broke up in 1999, even though they had already begun work on a third album two years earlier and even had finished demos sitting in a drawer. Volk, together with Daniel Löble and Rüdiger Fleck who both joined the band in 1997 - founded the moderately successful RAWHEAD REXX. Löble later famously joined HELLOWEEN, while Thilo Hermann, who had also joined as a replacement guitarist in 1996, ended up back with RUNNING WILD.As GLENMORE, the band members have two great albums to their credit, which enriched if not revolutionized German hard rock/heavy metal. As is so often the case, fame eluded them.

Album:

Debut full-length album. The album was produced by Frank Bornemann, with Gerhard Wölfle serving as co-producer. Both men played a significant role in the German metal scene of the late 1980s. GLENMORE’s sound was thus placed in capable hands; the quintet’s style could roughly be placed between QUEENSRYCHE at their best and bands like LETTER X.At a time when classic metal and hard rock had long been on their deathbeds, “Materialized” nonetheless emerged as a promising album. Even the opener, “Hungry,” was a bona fide hit. Jürgen Volk’s high, clear voice was the band’s calling card, and the layered backing vocals were their trademark. The album’s sound also had character, allowing songs like the playful “The Voice,” the two great ballads “Miracles” and “Take On A Shining Star,” and the high-energy track “Speak To Me” to really shine.Glenmore’s debut album *Materialized* is flawless and without weaknesses, and it outshines nearly everything else released in this genre in recent years. It’s melodic metal of lasting value, featuring enchanting vocals and powerful instrumentation, all expressed through songs of the highest caliber. So my first question was: how did the GLENMORE dream team come together? Jürgen takes it step by step: In 1982, Wolfgang Heuchert (g), Didi Vogt (d), and I started making music together. With the help of intensive lessons, we worked hard to iron out our weaknesses. I initially played bass until Markus Ratheiser replaced me on the four-string in 1987, and finally, in 1990, Olaf Bert Adami joined us as the second guitarist. In 1988, we met Frank Bornemann, with whom we signed a publishing deal in 1989. From then on, it was all about hard work, which was also documented with an official demo. After the demo, we started playing showcases until we finally signed the deal with POLYDOR.So the studio wasn’t far off, since everything was already perfectly set up for recording the first album. We had plenty of time for the album and spent nearly three months in the studio, including mixing - which is a very impressive production time for a debut. Of course, there were a few minor technical issues, as is almost always the case, but otherwise everything went quite well, and we’re also very happy with the sound. Some tracks from the demo days underwent changes on the album! One of the best german hardrock albums in my opinion. A bit Queensryche influenced.
