Runner is a ‘80s U.S. Hard-Rock / Melodic Metal band.RUNNER was formed during June 1985 in Chicago, IL, and - after a couple demo-tapes - the band signed a deal with the U.S. indie-label called Rock Hard.During 1987 RUNNER recorded their debut-album, a great Melodic Metal piece, full of killer guitar parts, catchy chorus and incredible vocals, that could recall the style of Malice, Leatherwolf and heavier Ratt.The album was shelved for some time in order to find the right worldwide distribution.In the meantime, the band, tired of waiting, changed their singer and evolved into the U.S. band BARRACUDA, that recorded the much acclaimed “Open Fire” album, toured thru’ USA and had two videos on MTV.Following Barracuda’ success, in 1991 Rock Hard Music decided to recoup some money and signed a licensing-deal with South Korean label Hee Jee Records, that released the album in strictly limited editions (300 cassette-tapes, 300 Cds and 1000 vinyls).The band never authorized this licensing-deal and they still don’t consider these editions as official.So, for the first time ever, this great album will be officially released, on the “Lost U.S. Jewels” series in a strictly 500 copies limited edition, with a fully remastered audio and a nice booklet containing all lyrics and the never-told story behind this album.

As part of the treasurable Steelheart Records ‘Lost US Jewels’ series, here’s the long lost, cult classic album “Falling Hearts” from Americans RUNNER.Although this album was originally released and re-released under the Runner moniker, the band has already changed its name to Desire, when the musicians entered the recording studio to record this album in 1987. The Runner moniker was dropped in 1986.Originally released in limited quantities via a small label in 1991, all over the years this album become some kind of the “holy grail” of Melodic Metal / Hard Rock.This ”The Lost US Jewels Vol.13 ; RUNNER – Falling Hearts” pressing is limited to 300 copies – already almost out of print – has been remastered from the original master plus 1 unreleased bonus track.ICON, MALICE, DOKKEN, early QUEENSRYCHE fans, here’s something you should check it out. These songs were written in around 1986-1987, and will bring you to the “golden ages” when the girls were pretty and we were young, wild and free! Chicago based outfit RUNNER recorded their debut album in 1987, but a fateful crash involving their original lead singer saw him getting jailed and the band re-recording all his vocals with a new singer. Their label Rock Hard Records signed guitarist Sean Colligan new band Barracuda and shelved the RUNNER album.As the Barracuda debut “Open Fire” (1989) did well the label decided to recoup their investment and released the RUNNER album almost 5 years since recorded as a limited edition of 300 copies.You’ll be surprised by RUNNER’s “Falling Hearts” quality.
