STRIPPED GYPSY are a powerhouse Sleaze/ Hard Rock band from Baltimoore/ USA around singer Rose Manfre, who recorded the 8-demo "Troubadours Of Fortune" in 1992, which remained lost in the archives until today. Steelheart Records have now taken care of the music, remastered the work and added a lush booklet. Considering that these are demo versions, the sound is appealing. Manfre's voice is at times reminiscent of a harder version of Debbie Harry (Blondie), while musically the band fished in similar waters as Bang Tango and L.A.Guns before they too were unfortunately washed away by Grunge wave.

Stripped Gypsy is one of those hidden gems that often goes unnoticed in the world of Hair Metal music. But thanks to Steelheart Records, their unheard album "Troubadours of Fortune" is finally seeing the light of day. The band, formed in Baltimore in the 1990s, consists of seasoned musicians who came together to create a sound that is both gritty and melodic. Lead vocalist and guitarist Rosalie Wampler, also known as Rose Manfre, delivers powerful and soulful vocals that perfectly complement the heavy riffs and catchy melodies. The rhythm section, consisting of Joe Manfre on drums and Chip Gypsy on bass, provides a solid foundation for the band's sound. And let's not forget about the impressive guitar work of Scott Lein and later Eric Ward, who joined the band on bass.The album opens with the hard-hitting track "See Ya Later", which sets the tone for what's to come. It's a perfect blend of classic rock and metal, with a touch of 70s influence. "Summer Lover" and "Sweet Talker" are both standout tracks, showcasing the band's ability to create infectious hooks and memorable choruses. The band here really sounds like an ugly, but lovely child of Smashed Gladys and Saraya.The production quality of the album is impressive, thanks to the work of engineers and producers Arnold Geher and Steve Carr. Fans of bands like Smashed Gladys, Princess Pang, and Femme Fatale will definitely appreciate the gritty and sleazy sound of Stripped Gypsy. And even though the band may have changed their name and sound, their legacy lives on through this long-awaited album.
