The band was formed in the summer of 2014 when bass player Kent Jansson, wanted to form a band with the intention of writing and performing original songs. The guitarist Thomas Hansson was asked to join and within a year the lineup was complete with singer Lars-Åke Nilsson and Keyboardist Peter Östling and later also joined drummer Peter Ytterberg.The music can best be described as Melodic Hardrock/AOR with influences of western parts of Sweden.

Stormburst was formed in July 2014. The original intention was to make high quality music, have fun and do what you believe in and without any musical compromises. No more covers, just self-composed material. Bass player Kent Jansson (Six Feet Under, Keen Hue, Steam) and guitarist Thomas Hansson (Steam, Coastline) started with singer Lars-Åke Nilsson (Keen Hue). To get the special sound that they wanted, they sent keyboardist Peter Östling (Six Feet Under) a demo, who completely believed into the idea and joined immediately. Later on they recruited hard hitting drummer Peter Ytterberg (Keen Hue, Moonshine Highway) to complete the line-up. The band’s name means 'uncompromisingly doing what you believe in, even if you have a headwind'. Even if the wind blows hard in life sometimes, it's the love of music in all conditions strong and sustainable that counts. Stormburst is the ability to reflect it with music and lyrics. The band's style can be described as a mix melodic rock & AOR. Stormburst is based in the heartland of Sweden, Dalarna. All the songs were written by Kent, Thomas and Lars-Åke. The composing and demo recordings of all tracks were done in the home studio of Lars-Åke in Vansbro to subsequently present them to the rest of the band. The result, the debut album “Raised To Rock”, was mainly recorded, mixed and mastered at Studio Bakery, Äppelbo by Jonas Tornemalm between January and February 2017. The recording of the strings was done at the Royal College of Music (KMH) in Stockholm during the same period of time. "Raised On Rock" is a tribute to all musical heroes the band grew up with.
