Bio:

TERRA NOVA is latin for “the new world” and is one of the best bands emerged from the European melodic hard rock scene in the past decade. Formed during 1992, in may 1994 the band started the recording of the first album “Livin’ It Up”, finishing it in October 1995. One year later the album was published with big success by Victor Entertainment Inc. (JVC) in Japan. September 1997 saw the release of their second album in Japan called “Break Away” which was actually welcomed with great critical and public acclaim. “Livin’ It Up” was finally released in Europe by Now & Then in 1997. Soon after they attended the Gods festival in Wigan, UK and the band gained very much success even though most of the people never heard the band before. In January 1998 the band toured Japan for the first time again with high acclaim from the critic and the public. In July 1998 the finally band entered the studio to record their 3rd album for the japanese market called “Make My Day”. At the end of 1999 however persistent problems with their Dutch record company saw the band reach the end of their patience and the end of the road. Reluctantly, but perhaps inevitably, the band split. Brothers Ron and Fred Hendrix forged the Pop-Rock outfit AQUILA. But their hunger for rock reignited when Frontiers Records President Serafino Perugino pushed the guys for a reunion album in 2005. “Escape” the come-back release 29-08-2005, has gathered excellent responses from the critic and fans, and the “Best Of” now gives a glance to the past production of the band during the nineties. “Come Alive” is released on July 2nd in Euope, July 27th in the U.S.A. and August 25th in Japan 2010.

Album:

Dutch melodic rock/AOR band TERRA NOVA are set to deliver their pomptastic new album 'Reinvent Yourself' on March 23. Reinvent Yourself is the 6th studio album of the Dutch band Terra Nova. In 1996 their highly acclaimed debut album Livin´ It Up was launched. After that the albums Break Away in 1997 and Make My Day in 1999 followed. After the first three albums the band had to split up due to a conflict with their Dutch record company.Fred, Ron and Gesuino continued under the name Aquila and released two albums: Say Yeah 2001 and Man With A Mission 2004.In 2004 the band was free from their contractual obligations towards their Dutch record company and signed a record deal with Frontiers Records. The first album after their break was Escape released 2005 followed by the album Come Alive 2010.In 2007 Fred, Ron, Gesuino and two woman: Esther Brouns and Anita Craenmehr got together as Two Of A Kind and released a superb album Two Of A Kind.End of 2013 the Reinvent Yourself album was written by Fred and recorded and mixed during 2014. During 2014 the band and their record label Frontiers had different views on which direction the album should take. This resulted in Terra Nova moving on with their album without a record company. In 2015 Terra Nova was signed by Melodic Rock Records for the world and King Records for Japan. The album Reinvent Yourself is about trying to improve yourself over and over again. It´s a process of finding a better version of yourself . Trying to take it to the highest level.

Album:

Songwriter / vocalist Fred Hendrix and the guys are back with a new TERRA NOVA melodic rock album titled "Raise Your Voice" just released in Asia, with this Japanese edition including an exclusive bonus track. The rest of the world has to wait until next month."Raise Your Voice" is the band's seventh album, and while main man Fred Hendrix has become more and more interested in production lately - he did the recent TWO OF A KIND album - he's keeping Terra Nova alive, not only releasing this new CD but also playing live.Terra Nova performed few days ago (December 1) at the H.E.A.T Festival in Germany alongside Crazy Lixx, Jean Beauvoir, Hardline and others. So the band is full on, and it shows on this new record.Since opener, title track 'Raise Your Voice', the band showcases a renewed energy, faithful to their melodic essence yet more biting, rocking. Following song 'Rain' is even sharper, with a driving guitar riff and a punchy rhythm section. On 'Be Who You Are' appears Terra Nova soaring verses / chorus and synth layers from old, yet soon the groovy guitars riffs appear again for 'Rock ‘N’ Roll Hero'.A proof of this new melodic rock with edge approach and classic rock touches is shown in 'Trouble', the rock n' roller 'Blue Light', and 'Better Days' adding organ instead of '80s styled synths. For fans from the early sound of the band there's midtempo 'Don’t You Walk Away' and its sweet melody, the piano ballad 'Am I The Man' (one of the highlights), and the soulful slow tune 'The Other Side'.However the motto of this new album is Rock, and Japanese bonus track 'Storm Coming' is a groovy rocker with a broken riff and layered classic rock-like backing vocals. On "Raise Your Voice" Terra Nova somehow reinvents themselves, going for a more rocking approach still retaining the melody. The songs are mostly guitar driven, with a strong rhythm section and rougher lead vocals by Hendrix. There's some numbers in the Terra Nova sound of old as well, sweet AORish tunes with synths and a Scandi feeling.

Album:

Dutch AOR / Melodic Rock band TERRA NOVA will release a new album entitled ”Ring That Bell” on June 3, 2022 via Lion Music, but the CD was already released in Japan by King Records including a bonus track.Terra Nova is already a veteran act from the genre, always releasing quality, elaborated material. In fact, with ”Ring That Bell” the band is celebrating the 30th anniversary of their debut album release.Still with with founder members bros Ron (keyboards, synths) and Fred (vocals) at charge of songwriting along with long-time guitarist Gesuino Derosas, the line up for this recording is completed with session musicians bass player Jeroen Bos and veteran, current Praying Mantis drummer Hans in’t Zandt. The opening duo of ‘Carpe Diem’ and ‘Crank It Up’ are the type of songs Terra Nova excel at – plenty of harmonies, keyboards and catchy choruses. Speaking keyboards, those on ‘Touch Down’ are a thing of beauty. Upbeat music that is needed right now. The title track utilises the band’s layered vocal harmonies to great effect. You find yourself joining in even after just one listen.Of course there are ballads, with ‘Give Me Shelter’ just shading ‘Home’ and ‘Lightning Rod’, mainly for the vocal performance and emotive piano. There is a Journey-esque vibe on ‘Where Do We Go From Here’ with a touch of classic West Coast AOR as well. Very different from the rest of the album but it doesn’t seem out of place. Sublime guitar solo on this one too.‘Running On Empty’ continues the Journey sound and again another fine guitar solo from Gesuino Derosas.Terra Nova’s ”Ring That Bell” will appeal to AOR / melodic rock aficionados and fans of the band’s traditional sound for the genre, which never deviates from the classic ’80s smooth style. Terra Nova hasn’t released a bad album in a 30+ career, and they have certainly pulled out the stops on this new offer.A very impressive and enjoyable listen.
