Info:
LEGEND who latter changed their name to LEGEND SEVEN was a Christian Hard Rock band who started in 1990 and released 2 albums. Before there "Self-Titled" album was even released they went on tour opening for WHITECROSS on the "In The Kingdom World Tour. The band formed (formerly with the name Legend) by three former members of Ruscha, another Christian band from the 1980s. The band made its debut in 1990 under the name "Archon" on a compilation disc released by Heaven's Metal magazine, with a self-produced version of "After The Fall." The song was re-released on the band's self-titled debut album, Legend, in 1991 on Word Records. Shortly after, the band was forced to change its name to Legend Seven upon learning that another band was already using the name Legend. They released Blind Faith in 1993. Both albums were produced by Grammy Award-winning producer Bubba Smith and garnered several hits on Christian radio ("Carry Me", No. 4, 1992; "Angels", No. 2, 1992; "Be Still", No. 1 for 2 weeks, 1994; "Blind Faith", No. 1 for 2 weeks, 1994; "First Love", No. 10, 1994; "Call on Me", No. 15, 1994). The band disbanded in 1994.
Album:
Legend is the debut album of the Christian rock band of the same name. After this recording, the band changed the name to Legend Seven when they became aware of another band with the same name. It was released in 1992 under the Word Records label. This band had its formative roots with another Christian rock band called Ruscha. That band, formed by brothers Peter and Nikolai Pankratz, featured singer Andy Denton on their fifth album - 1988's 'Come Alive'. According to sources on the Internet, the Pankratz brothers secured a deal with CBS/Sony which saw the band (with Denton, Jacobs and Williams included) primed for an assault on the big time. Unbeknown to the Pankratz brothers, the three named members set up a deal for themselves with Word Records, and left Ruscha to form Legend. If this was true, then it doesn't hold the three in a good light-considering these were supposed Christian musicians in the CCM market. Money talks huh? Well, Legend as it happens, finally got their thing together by releasing their debut in 1992, though were operating as early as 1990 under the name Archon. To be honest, it's not too bad, some pretty tough rockers and a big arena sound to boot. The harder rocking numbers really do sound like a million bucks, and with producer Bubba Smith handling the dials, these songs sound a lot better as a result. 'Don't Believe It' and the destructive 'Set This Place On Fire' are a couple of monsters, but the band sound equally at home with the seriously good 'After The Fall' (the band apparently released a self produced version of this song back in 1990 which was featured on a Christian metal compilation album), and the rather awesome ballads 'Carry Me' and 'Lead Me Back' The band are cashed up heavy and hard mostly - tracks such as 'Colours' set the tempo to fast, 'They That Wait' is also kinda heavy but has a noticeable blues vibe to it. Fun time rockers 'Angela' and 'Always And Forever' show the band in party-anthem mode. The band changed their name to Legend Seven the following year, due to a name dash with another band of the same name, and released their second CD 'Blind Faith' that same year. Beyond those two albums, Legend have been Inactive, though Denton moved onto a solo career, releasing 'Midnight Of Hope' in 1999, while Michael Jacobs has been out touring under the monicker Sacred Nation, and promoting his native American roots. Despite the dubious origins of this band, Legend deliver an album that is one of the better Christian hard rock albums out there, outside the likes of perennial favourites White Heart and Petra etc.
