Album:

Hailing from Manchester, UK, Melodic Rock legends DARE first album “Out Of The Silence” without any doubt marks one of the most important milestones in British Rock history and is one of these day’s most sought after releases. Thanks to the kind collaboration with Universal Music, “Out Of The Silence” was digitally remastered from the original tapes by YesterRock's resident engineer Tony Ubler.Consisting of the exceptional musicians Darren Wharton (ex Thin Lizzy), guitarist Vinny Burns (ex TEN, Jailbait) and James Ross (ex Frontier), “Out Of The Silence” offers anything a fan of true Melodic Rock / AOR can dream of.The tracklist includes classic tracks such as the awesome "Abandon" (a total AOR gem), the killer "Runaway", and the hymn "Into The Fire", one of the greatest songs ever produced from the MR / AOR genre. Both "Nothing Is Stronger Than Love" and "Return The Heart" are prime examples of Darren Wharton's smooth and emotional vocal delivery, while numbers like "King Of Spades" and the ballad "Don't Let Go" showcases Vinnie Burns immense talent on the six-strings.With this album, Dare, at the heydays of this sound in the late '80s, hit the charts in numerous countries and toured successfully with acts such as Europe, Jimmy Page Band or Gary Moore. This is it; “Out Of The Silence” is one of the all-time classic AOR / Melodic Rock albums that have you singing those superb harmonies and humming the brilliant guitar / keyboard riffs over and over again. A true Masterpiece for the genre.BTW, the sound of this remaster is excellent, has to be heard to be believed.

Album:

DARE will release their long awaited new studio album Sacred Ground in Europe on July 15.SACRED GROUND is the bands much awaited 7th studio album; a modern classic, original, yet instantly addictive. It features some of Wharton’s most mature song writing to date. Thought provoking and passionate, whilst still retaining a dark rock edge. As the band’s Worldwide fan base eagerly anticipate the new album, Sacred Ground is destined to be another classic album by AOR Rock legends DARE.Fronted by singer songwriter Darren Wharton (who first rose to fame in the early eighties playing keyboards with legendary Irish rock band Thin Lizzy), DARE are one of the most respected and innovative melodic rock bands working today, gaining cult status among AOR fans throughout Europe, the UK and the world. The band’s debut 1989 album ‘Out Of The Silence’ recorded at Joni Mitchell’s Bel Air Studio Los Angeles, and produced by Nickelback producer Mike Shipley is still widely regarded today as one of the all time great AOR albums.Darren joined Philip Lynott’s Thin Lizzy at the tender age of eighteen and enjoyed 5 great years with the band touring extensively, alongside renowned guitarist Scott Gorham, drummer Brian Downey, guitarists Snowy White (Pink Floyd), Gary Moore and John Sykes (Whitesnake). Working closely with Philip Lynott, Darren also recorded classic Thin Lizzy albums, such as ‘Chinatown’, ‘Renegade’, and ‘Thunder and Lightning’ on which Wharton co-wrote 3 songs, including the hit single ‘The Sun Goes Down’. Sadly, the latter was to be Thin Lizzy’s last studio album, and in 1986 Darren Wharton returned to his home town of Manchester where, as an outlet for his creative flare for song writing and working with young Oldham guitarist Vinny Burns, he formed his own band, DARE.Darren re-joined Thin Lizzy in 1994 and the band continues to tour extensively around the world to rapturous fans and huge audiences. The band recently completed a big tour of the USA with Judas Priest and recently supported Guns ‘n’ Roses in the UK as well as scores of major festival shows.Wharton’s style of song writing, modern anthemic rock with Celtic overtones, coupled with the bands powerful live performances throughout Europe and the UK ( Sweden Rock, BYH Festival Germany) have gained Dare the reputation as a bright force on the British rock scene.

Album:

The iconic, yet sometimes elusive, UK band Dare, featuring original member vocalist Darren Wharton, celebrates the thirtieth anniversary of their debut album, 1988's Out Of The Silence. They do so by completely re-recording the album as Out Of The Silence II. This should be familiar to Dare and AOR rock fans as Wharton did the same a few years back for 1998's Calm Before the Storm. At the start, I apologize if this review sounds more like a PR pitch. If you have the original album, you may want to get II for two reasons. First, simply because you dig the band and the album, and you want to share in the celebration of both. Second, for curiosity, you may want to compare the two. And that's were the rub lies with me.Back in the day, Dare barely raised an eye brow in these United States. I never heard of Dare or the album. Sure it was available as an import, but you had to have heard of Dare and the album in the first place to actually get it here in America in 1988. Now, if like me, that's you too, wherever you may be, then you need to get Out Of The Silence II. However, as to the comparison of the original to present day, I can't comment for the obvious reasons already mentioned. (Perhaps those of you who have the original can post comments regarding a comparison. But what I can say is: this album is simply vintage and vibrant AOR melodic rock from a great band. The formula is legend, consisting of great melodies, strong guitar harmony, clean melodic vocals, tight rock and groove from the rhythm section, fiery guitar solos, and some simply down right catchy tunes. Strong tight rockers come with Abandon, Runaway, and the guitar savvy Heartbreaker. More AOR arena anthems arrive with Return The Heart, Don't Let Go, and the piano led ballad Nothing Is Stronger Than Love. All said, whether you have the original album or not, Dare's Out Of The Silence II is premium AOR melodic hard rock. Get it; you won't be disappointed.

Album:

UK rock band Dare is probably best known for lead singer & songwriter Darren Wharton, who first rose to fame in the early eighties playing keyboards with legendary Irish rock band Thin Lizzy. Dare is one of the most respected and innovative melodic rock bands working today, having gained cult status among AOR fans throughout Europe, the UK and the world. The band’s debut 1989 album "Out Of The Silence", recorded at Joni Mitchell’s Bel Air Studio in Los Angeles and produced by Nickelback producer Mike Shipley, is still widely regarded today as one of the all time great AOR albums."Road To Eden" follows Dare’s critically acclaimed albums "Sacred Ground" (2016) and "Out Of The Silence 2" (2018). Both albums reached #1 in the Amazon Classic Rock Charts in four countries: the UK, Germany, Italy and Spain. Dare reached #5 in the official UK rock charts, #6 in the US Amazon Classic Rock Charts and #1 in Japan Rock Imports."Road To Ede" is destined to be another modern Dare classic. Produced and written by Darren Wharton at his studio in the majestic mountains of North Wales, the new album has a harder rock edge than previous albums, whilst still retaining the atmospheric sound and anthem like melodies that has become the band's trademark. "Road To Eden" features ten brand-new beautifully crafted songs that capture the very heart of Dare. "With a full headline UK tour set for the UK in 2022 plus dates in Spain, Scandinavia and Germany, it’s going to be an exciting year", explains Darren. “We wanted to write an album that translated well to live performance and 'Road To Eden' has some great anthems, energy and power. We can’t wait to play these songs live.”With previous Dare albums now having well over 4 million streams on Spotify, it’s clear that for the growing army of Dare fans, the wait is nearly over, as they get ready to join the band on "The Road To Eden".“Road To Eden” will be released on CD on April 1, 2022 via Legend Records/ Cargo and Level Music/ Warner digitally on the same day. A release on vinyl will be scheduled later in the year.

Album:

A year after it's original release, the album was Remixed and re-released, along with new artwork via Legend Records, with a revised track listing an the addition of previously unreleased track, 'Cold Wind Will Blow'.The songs sound a lot punchier than the earlier release and the CD plays a lot louder.DARE third record but in its quite rare “Calm Before The Storm remixed UK version“. Few Melodic Rock / AOR fans are aware that this album – originally released in Germany in 1998 – received a very different UK release a year later.“Calm Before The Storm” is one of the favorite Dare albums by their fans. In the ’90s, Melodic Rock / AOR was not exactly the most popular genre among the recording companies / labels. But there was a German label – MTM – which proudly served as platform for many bands in this musical style to get their albums released.Originally appeared in 1998, “Calm Before The Storm” marked Dare’s return to a lovely AOR sound. The album immediately was received by fans of the genre with open arms world-wide.Then band leader Darren Wharton decided to give the record a UK release, but not just a ‘reissue’.A year after the original release, for its British version “Calm Before The Storm” was remixed along with new artwork; the cover photo received some kind of a golden ‘relief’, and the album’s title is printed using Greek alphabet letters.Released via Legend Records, an extra, previously unreleased track was included (“Cold Wind Will Blow”) as bonus.“Calm Before The Storm remixed UK version” sounds a lot punchier than the earlier release, and the guitars come out brighter. For me, this album is essential in your Melodic Rock / AOR collection, so if you already got it, better check if you have this ‘remixed UK version’ as well, as not only sounds different but also it’s a collectors item.
